Yo. It's my birthday today, and I got some money to upgrade my pc. I'm using a lot of my own money, but I'm spending $400 on upgrading it. Here's what I'm thinking of for the final build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gkqFTC I upgraded the CPU, Motherboard, Cooler, and Ram. I don't really need a GPU upgrade as mine works fine and my CPU doesn't. Do you guys have any suggestions for that list, or if I could get better parts for the same price? Thanks!

Thanks! What do you mean by the 3.5tb? Additionally, I'm not buying windows I was just showing that it's what I have. Only things I'm actually purchasing on that list is the CPU Motherboard Ram and cooler. Thanks for the help!

As mentioned above, I'd also scrap the 1tb hdd and 120gb ssd for an mx500 500gb ssd. I've been there and done that with a hdd/ssd combo. It's okay but I'd prefer the 500gb ssd alone. Unless you do a ton of video/photo editing, you prob don't need the extra space.
3rd gen ryzen like 3600 speed bur finding one with tight timings is not an easy task, just letting you know. The kit you picked is fine though.
Lots of places to find windows for cheap. I'd try on here first, if not, kingwin or peguin or something like that offers them at a reasonable price. Try paul's hardware on youtube as I know he has a video with the site. I've bought at least one license from them and it's working fine still.

Hey, Doesn't the Ryzen CPU come with the Wraith Stealth so you can easily put $20 into something else?

i think it does, the fan isn't a must but a current fan in my pc is broke so i just chucked it on the list.

if i could get a way better motherboard or cpu or something instead of that $20 towards a fan, lmk

Happy Birthday! Unfortunately, no experience in the PC building universe. Have a good day though :p

Hi,

Just saying, but keep your old processor and update the BIOS to F40, follow the motherboard's instructions if you still have your AM4 chip. Otherwise I would spent a little more on Ryzen 3rd gen ready motherboards such as the MSI Tomahawk Max that would work with the CPU.

I got unlucky for a few days converting from a R5 1600 to a R7 3700x because I accidentally upgraded the BIOS incorrectly so it's just a little warning to you. I nearly fried my motherboard but got lucky in that respect and could've had to invest in a new one.

Plus, the upgrades you're planning to have are good, but it also entirely depends on what you're using them for. Are you planning to stream, record, edit (encoding), etc? Because single core performance is great for gaming, but if you're looking to stream or record I recommend saving a little bit more money and do the route I took with the R7 3700x, you'd be doing yourself favours having more cores.

Otherwise, happy birthday pal and hope you enjoy your new and perfect PC.

Yep, I need more cores for what I use my PC for, which is why I didn’t touch the GPU. Could you maybe add me on discord, Dylann#9999? I have a couple questions.

I recommend a smaller storage SSD, as hard drives are slower (HDDs are rotating optical/magnetic disks while SSDs are electrical flow based). You could also probably get away with a better graphics card. Check out the 1660/1660 Ti, or even the GTX 10 line.

The ssd you picked for your built is horrible.
I had the 240GB edition fail on me with barely any data to it.

Yeah, the new Kingston's are garbage. They used to be good but now they will fail on you in seconds.
If you want a cheap and pretty good SSD, get a SanDisk.

Oh sorry, well you can save some money by not buying a CPU cooler since the CPU comes with one. You also don't need to buy rip-off RAM. And finally, the motherboard doesn't affect performance at all so you can buy a cheaper one. Here is a modified part list:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($194.79 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($70.90 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 G:cool: DDR4-3000 Memory ($64.98 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($44.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 970 4 GB Video Card
Case: NZXT H500 ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.98 @ NZXT)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($99.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $565.43
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

P.S.: Your GPU is gonna bottleneck your CPU a fair bit but whatevs
