People are leaving my server, why?

Well, I have recently made a Prison server (play.epicminesmc.com) and whenever people join they always leave, and never stay. Even my donors and long lasting players have been leaving like everything has just gone to the shi** and nobody wants to stay. I have ranks A-Z and 50 prestiges. I'm thinking there isn't a motivation to work for anything and I want to know what I should add to give my players motivation.

List of features I currently have:
* 9 Donor Ranks
* LuckyBlocks/MineCrates
*Crates
* Active Owner
* Good Vote Rewards
* Custom Explosive/Excavation Enchantments

Im thinking that there isn't motivation or that everything is too easy. Im looking for some of your guys's suggestions on what I should nerf/buff or even add. Please respond as I know lots of server owners are having the same issues i'm having.

I've been seeing this lately in the overall Minecraft community and for your specific reason, I have thought of 2 things.

1. Minecraft is dying. New games are coming out every couple of months and are just overpowering the oldish games that are still trying to stand. While mc still has a pretty decent community size, it's definitely not the same size as it was just a few years ago.

2. Not to be rude but your server bores people. In my years of managing and representing many servers, I've come to see that people get bored of just seeing the same thing all over and over in your case it might just be mining. To try to fix this problem I would try to incorporate many new challenges/obstacles in the gameplay. A bad example of this would be "mine 10k blocks and get blah blah " but more unique things that no one has seen before that makes people want to stay.

an example of what he said it is boring to just mine and mine and mine even if you like to mine at some point it gets boring 1 thing that I saw on a server that made it super super fun and I spent hours and hours on it, So you need x amount of money to rank up lets say 10k to rank up to rank B when player gets 10k and does /rank up a gui comes up with complete a challenge and rank up for half the price another option rank up without the challenge and pay double the amount example complete parkour maps and have 5 different maps kill rounds of bosses like x amount of ghast spawn and you have to kill them all to complete the challenge or you can pay double your amount to rank up with no challenge

* Advertise more.
* Get active staff.
* Make the server look clean
* Don't be family friendly (Some people don't like that)
* Do Small giveaways

It might not even be your fault. Prison has been out for years now, so it's only natural people get bored of it.

I opened it a while ago. I made $200 then everything started dying down. Right now I'm in the process of redoing it all.

Honestly man, it's because it's been done, over and over. Prison servers have been over done, every single network has one now. You have to stop and think, why would people stay and play on my server? A lot of the time their are 100s if not 1000s of other servers that offer the same thing you do but better. Not trying to be rude, but someone is always outdoing what you have.

The Minecraft community has shrank, it's still alive. But no way booming like it was 2-3 years ago,
Only way you make it now days more than ever, is you have to be unique, if you aren't, players don't see the point in staying.

I don't really have time to read through the advice people have been posting here, but I'm still happy to drop some knowledge. From personal experience, a lack of content update and events will inevitably lead to a drop in playerbase. When I was running a few servers a while back and we lost our dev due to contractual miscommunications, it was almost like a death sentence. Players get bored once they've been doing the same thing (like mining in prison) for hours on hours. Try creating events like a pvp contest or a build contest on creative plots. Just look at games like Fortnite… they update their content the most of any game I know, and they still retain their playerbase two years later (even through the release of big games like "Red Dead" and "Black Ops 4").
