If you wanna be server creator, thats great. Just please try to brainstorm some unique gamemodes that are preferably custom made. If you would like to be a server owner, I suggest you learn how to code and make your own exclusive plugins and games, if not, get some other wonderful programmers on here to do some for you.

What I mean by unoriginal is gamemodes like skyblock, factions, prison and kitpvp that are compiled of nothing more than plugins you downloaded off of spigot and bukkit, usually including essentialsx, permissionsx, shopgui+, and worldguard. Oh yeah, and ESPECIALLY buycraft. I feel like most servers now are just a get rich quick scheme with the lack of effort put into them nowadays, with most having outrageously expensive ranks with p2w benefits. I'm not saying that if you do have a server with these type of gamemodes then it will NEVER be unique, I'm just suggesting you add some new custom things to make you a little different from all the other skyblock nerds. Maybe add some new combat features, or some boss fight you eventually build up to do. I dont know - point is, try to make your server different from the others.


(also dont make your server p2w thats just stupid)

Always see these servers with “new and exclusive plugins” for factions when they are just a branch off of the real way-too-common deal.

Hi, person here with a completely new and original server. Your idea is fun but you need to know some things.

It took us 2+ years to develop our server and we have yet to release.
It took us multiple thousands of USD to develop our server and we have yet to release.
...And it is still taking effort, it costs money and so much time.

I would love to see new unique servers since the only reason Java Multiplayer is dying is because of the neglect of new unique servers. However, the current formula still works and every server that is not unique is a cash-grab server. Every HCF, Faction, Prison and Skyblock server is a cash grab server.

The only ones that are no cash grab servers right now are the really popular ones such as Hypixel, Hive and what not.

No one knows what it is, so instead of trying it to see if they like it, they just skip over that server. There will be less advertising opportunities because, for example, an HCF youtuber can make factions or KitPvP videos, but their audience will likely be far less than half the normal amount. Overall, just by having an original idea, you lose over half of your business unless you get lucky and the gamemode blows up. Yes, I agree, adding a twist can sometimes be all that's needed to have a very enjoyable server.

Actually, they don't. There's an in-game shop where you can use currency called "cubits", which are obtained from voting and playtime, to purchase the same perks/ranks. Point is, it's not like "buy this rank for a 30 key reclaim, unobtainable spawners, free kits, and monthly crates", it's more like "hey you can have a cool tag, some pets, a higher speed (nons can do speed 2, mvp+ gets speed 5, all jumps are possible with speed 1), and a few more plots for building".

It's so annoying to see these new servers pop up that look all the same, have little to no anti-cheat, and the only reason people play is the top prize.

You sell unfair advantage to things. You break the EULA. Bound to get blacklisted if the server ever gets big.

So no, they didn't break the EULA.
And as everything is possible without paying, it's either A. not against the commercial use guidelines or B. Like 9000/9001 in their priority list. VeltPvP, ViperMC, etc are all big and all break way more and way more serious rules, yet they have no issues.

Even Hypixel probably breaks the EULA with the rule of not selling a "decreased cooldown for non-cosmetic commands."

This is an accurate description of virtually every server on this site. When executed correctly, running a Minecraft Server is a proven "get rich quick" scheme. None of these servers are very unique, they all have the same features, they all have the same looking server trailer with 'Imagine Dragons - Believer' playing in the background and they all have /ftop and /istop rewards. Literally, the only reasons anyone would bother to play on any of these servers is for the PayPal rewards. Although in reality, the PayPal rewards are nothing compared to the amount of money that you will be spending just to ensure that you have an edge on your island level factions balance compared to other islands or factions.
