I just want to start this off by saying I mean no hate at all to any of the staff members of MC-Market, mal intent to the community of the MC-Market, and no disrespect to the website itself. I respect each and every rule that they push out and each addition they do add to try and improve the website, even if it includes adding rules that I strongly disagree with.

In my personal opinion, there are multiple issues Mc-Market as a person who tries to push out resources for anyone to download whether it is free or a purchasable one.

One issue which I have encountered many times is the "Resources failed to meet quality expectations". I think this is a beyond stupid rule that is so confusing and too many complexities. There is no line to cross to make it meet quality expectations. There is no bar that is set to meet quality expectations. I realize now when posting my resources that each and every configuration file is bound to get denied for that reason. That's why I know for a fact; multiple people have left this once beloved by many community and site. That is why I myself, a person who has a service team and who wants to post a lot of content to the website, is simply denied to a rule that is so strict, so obscure, that is simply as vague as air. I myself have to post only graphics instead of the configuration files that I have built due to the fear of the hard work that I spent hours on being denied over such a rule.

I believe that there should be a certain bar or certain line that you need to cross to meet the "quality expectations" that is required to post a resource because, with a certain line or bar, there is no way for a person who posts resources to know where to meet and go beyond when making something.

I don't mean to be condescending when writing this. I don't mean any mal intent as I stated above. I just wanted to write my opinion and see what others' opinions are when posting resources. Much love goes out to Mick and everyone else on this site that works hard to push out updates and everything else that goes on behind the scenes and upfront.

I've had resources that boomed and resources that barely did any numbers. I don't think it has much to do with the site, but rather the demand for the product you're pushing.

At current, our quality expectations are very reasonable, if not generous in my opinion. These expectations are based on the amount and quality of original content [to you] that you included within your resource; we don't count duplicated content within that.

For hand-written content like plugins, configurations, HTML websites/themes, Skripts, etc, we expect between 4KB and 6KB of original content which is of good quality. We would not accept a plugin which calls Bukkit.broadcastMessage() sequentially a hundred times rather than using a loop because that is simply not of the quality we'd expect, even though it may be between 4KB and 6KB in size.

When it comes to configurations, evaluating for our quality expectations can be more subjective but the above still holds true for the most part. I've seen hundreds of resources where the author has simply duplicated the same configuration file and modified the colours to create 'variations' - such would not count towards the total original content, and I've had to deny many for this reason.

Likewise, if we cannot tell that you have put substantial effort into the configuration just by looking at it, it's likely to be denied.

Imagine you were to submit an anti-cheat configuration which you spent an hour on tweaking the settings to perfection. How would you expect us to tell this configuration apart from someone who spent just five minutes tweaking random settings they'd assume to be better, just by looking at the configuration itself? If the only way to reasonably convince an individual that you spent an hour working on that configuration was to show them a screen-recording of you making it, it's unlikely that it would be accepted if you were to submit it as a resource.

The plugin you're configuring for also has a large impact on meeting our quality expectations; configurations you've created yourself, from scratch, are far more likely to be accepted than editing the default configuration provided with the plugin. For example, DeluxeMenus or ChestCommands menus are often accepted where that menu is substantial, like multi-page warp/rank/shop menus.

This short paragraph from our resource wiki sums it up:
Also stated above, we do not accept resources that are not of any value, therefore, if you upload a dirt hut, you will be denied. If you upload a hello world plugin, you will be denied. If you upload a nearly default config, you will be denied.

One should be able to look at something you've uploaded and see that it's unique to you, that it's yours, and still see that it's yours if it's uploaded by someone else under another name.
If this is not the case, you will be denied.

At the end of the day, our resource system acts as a convenience system; it's not the be-all and end-all. You're free to post the configurations elsewhere within our marketplace, specifically the Other Products section.
