Just asked mike if debates were allowed so I decided to make this thread, I'd like to have a proper understanding on this situation as I'm completely against resource bumping and had lost interest in posting new resources due to the decrease in sales/downloads.

My reason to be against resource bumping:
  1. Your resource is never seen
  2. Reduce in sales/downloads as bumping is a repeated cycle of 100s of users bumping everyday
My explanation to the reasons ^
  1. Why your resource is never seen? Normally this morning I bumped my resource and later which is 2-3 hours never found it due to another 10 people bumping their resources.
  2. Why the old system (With no bumping) was better? According to mick bumping was better as people could use it as an alternative instead of making stupid updated of no use. Well Guess what? That just went bad as Me being there before the bumping system came up I saw my resource still in the first page in the first 5 hours atleast. Barely 10-15 people made stupid updated to get their resource on top but it never effected our downloads and sales, why? Because not everyone did that and your resource would have still been at the 3rd page atleast by the day and buyers would have found it. What about now? Your resource would be stuck soo behind probably at the 13th or 15th page that new buyers (who don't use the filter feature) will never find your resource.
  3. If you would like to know more you can ask more authors like Spaceley as you'll know the difficulty that resource bumping gives us.
  4. Sure resource bumping can get your 2015 resource at top but its dumb as I've said there are 100 more resources being bumped which is 10 times more than what resources usually get on top with updates.
I'm very interested in hearing your side of the talk if you are interested in going against this. I myself have already read the reasons to why bumping was introduced and do not agree with them.

However, overall I disagree. Resource Bumping has allowed users to not need to constantly introduce new threads and reduce the overall congestion of threads.
To add, by bumping, threads can be updated whilst notifying more people.
I have nothing against threads, I'm only against resource bumping not thread bumping.

Regarding your point, that people don't see it. I advise using a title with keywords so that once people look for it, they can find it by searching for it.
I don't think I've done anything wrong as people have visited my resource before and I had proper downloads, now bumping just pushes my resources down and barely anyone sees it unless I advertise it at the chatbox

If your resource does not need an update (Buycraft icons) for example it would never get seen but with the ability to bump it increases your sales.

I do think they need to set a limit on bumping like this:

Premium: Bump 1 Resource
Supreme: Bump 3 Resources
Ultimate: Bump 5 Resources

Then i'd suggest adding bumps to only certain categories that would most likely wouldn't need a update like you said, Buycraft icons

If you check my resources I don't make anything popular so people don't really find it easily. They probably found yours through the filter but it doesn't work for me

The opposite, whenever I updated my resource there was a chance of getting a new buyer as people actually saw it. But currently I don't think I would get anyone as barely anyone sees it now.

Agreed 100%, Once you bump your resource, that's when people can actually find your resource. To add you can advertise your threads in the chat to make them even more recognizable.
Not every resource gets attention from bumps, you wait a few hours and the resource is nowhere to be found in the first 5 pages.
I've been bumping since XF2 and have seen no gain.

Note: I had a bit sales and downloads before but its no more happening to me.

I don't think you've understood me, What I'm trying to say is. Even if I bump my resource it barely is found as there are 100 more resources being bumped after mine.

I've already been advertising my paid resources for a long time, I recently changed to advertising my free resources as I saw no gain with my paid resources.

Whenever I bumped my own threads or posts, I had seen an increase in responses for a good 3-9hours. Obviously, bumping threads is not a "passive" or "easy" way to make your threads more recognizable. As at the end of the day, MC-M has hundreds people scrolling through it 24/7 and unfortunately not all of them will need the services that are provided.
Well I've slowly accepted the reality and have no idea how to properly advertise my resources now

This is last month, before I started bumping my resources. 7 Sales in 2 weeks because I started selling on Dec 13. And in the last few days my paypal was broken, so I didn't sell any of my resources.

This month I had 9 sales so far, in the first week I didn't sell anything because my paypal was still broken.

So if you ask me, yes bumping works. Or my resources got more populair.

To be honest, I don't believe there is a "Right" way to advertise your resources. Simply bump, post and do what you can, and in our current age, we even have options to post videos like TikToks to advertise. Honestly, it's simply finding a way to advertise that works for you! :D
You know I was going to use TikTok but its banned in my country and Instagram Reels doesn't really promise much results.

Currently thinking to make a thread for my resources.

Tbh what I'm thinking is maybe my paintball setup is not something people want and I decided to post a new premium resource to see if bumping actually works for me

I definitely think you should try create more resources, as paintball is a rather niche product! I wish you the best of luck in your sales!
Thanks, I've done a bit research and decided to make more server setups on gamemodes that were never or rarely introduced to mc-market

Not quite sure why I was tagged in this, but I do not have any difficulties with resource bumping, I found my sales have been increasing using this new feature.
