Hey,

I'm going to be reviewing quite a few servers. I have a lot of MC server experience (~3 years) so I will be giving a very honest and harsh review on your server.

I will be letting you know:
- My first impression
- What I think about user guidence (how easy it is to know your way around & what you're doing)
- What I think you're doing wrong and should change
- What I think you need to add & improve on
- Quality of builds & plugins

Also, let me know if you'd like me to test a few Minecraft/Bungee security exploits against your network and server. I'll let you know if I find anything and how to fix it.

Please leave your server IP down below and I'll get on and review it ASAP.

SERVER REVIEW FOR whatthemus - play.kingpvpmc.us

My first impression

When I tried to join, it didn't work at first as I was using 1.8 but it didn't even tell me to switch to another version; it just said "Disconnected" - you must be losing a lot of players because of this glitch. You can use ProtocolSupport to support 1.8/1.7 on 1.9 servers. When I finally got into the server, I had about 20 messages sent to me, like the default McMMO join message (disable this in the config), the essentials MOTD (the default one, too - at least customise it a bit), the default GAListener vote message, achievement messages, a welcome first time message and an online time message, which shouldn't display for first joins.

You should cut down on the first join messages as it clutters chat and doesn't get to the point. Maybe just display one message saying "Welcome to KingPVP, NAME! If you were referred here by someone, click here!". Also, quite a few of the messages had grammar mistakes.

What I think about user guidence (how easy it is to know your way around & what you're doing)
When I joined, I honestly had no idea what the server was about. There is an information room, but that displays various different thing about different "worlds" that the server had. I didn't know where to go or what to do to start off, but after a while, I found a "Portals" portal which took me to a place with a bunch of portals with holograms to different gamemodes & minigames. (Keep in mind, this is not a Bungee server so it was a bit weird). There was portals for minigames, a survival world, a nether world and a lot more which was weird since the server seemed to be survival based. If you're going to have very different and separate gamemodes, you *NEED* a network, otherwise it gets confusing asf. There was also a rankup thing like in prison across the whole server, which is weird because you don't even have prison...

What I think you're doing wrong and should change/What I think you need to add & improve on
  • Change the FeatherBoard so it doesn't look nearly exactly like the default template
  • Remove un-necessary things of the scoreboard like the player name & ping
  • Think of a color scheme for your server instead of having random colors for each different thing
  • Change the tab so it doesn't flick through different colors, it looks really nooby
  • You don't need to display the health or saturation in the tab, players can clearly see it for themselves.
  • Use the same prefix style for every message instead of some messages having "Auction >", some having "[KingPVP]", some having "
  • " and some having "!!Error:"
  • Turn this server into a BungeeCord network and spread out each gamemode into different servers
  • Configure ClearLag to your color scheme once you've made one, and replace the default prefix with something edgy, like "Janitor"
  • Instead of having a fake plugins message when doing /pl, just simply keep the default no permission message - it's a lot cleaner.
  • Configure the Essentials language file to your server's color scheme
  • Give players the starter kit when they join the server
  • It literally says "FastCraft+" when I open the crafting table.. configure that
  • Don't constantly display the mana/power in the action bar as it gets annoying
  • Your FeatherBoard is registered to iMC yet you apparently don't know who that is
Quality of builds & plugins
Some of the builds are honestly quite cool, but you need to cut down on the use of the custom furniture - I know it's cool, but it clutters your server if you use it too much. Also, all the builds are different - some medieval and some futuristic; you need to decide on a server theme instead of random builds.

SERVER REVIEW FOR OhheyNaid - play.universenetwork.org

My first impression

When I joined, I spawned facing a wall and not the spawn at /spawn - you may want to fix that. I didn't get a cluttered chat, though - it was a nice and simple join message.

What I think about user guidence (how easy it is to know your way around & what you're doing)
I really like the idea of /wiki, it's really helpful. At spawn, I don't understand why there are random skins from random players, though. I didn't really know my way around the spawn - it's too big imo.

What I think you're doing wrong and should change/What I think you need to add & improve on
  • You have some jumbled up prefixes, you should only use one prefix type
  • Make it so you don't loose hunger at spawn
  • Vote items are way too OP, I got 40k, 12 gold block & a skeleton spawner - it just destroys the economy
  • Why are the placeholders multicolored?
  • Configure the LeaderHead signs to your color scheme
  • You've hidden the non-custom plugins really well so I can't view them +1
  • You should have tips in chat with sounds to make your server more interactive
Quality of builds & plugins
The spawn is cool but way too big, and the "castle" shouldn't have walls as it feels to enclosed and spacious, you should make it more flat so you can see the sky & stuff as it's too gray. The plugins seem to be configured well and you've blocked /pl and stuff well.

SERVER REVIEW FOR spurkle - cookie-universe.com

My first impression

When I joined, I was greeted by a bunch of holograms which made it almost impossible to read anything. Instead of having loads of holograms, maybe have a server tutorial which slowly guides the player through the server and describes each part in chat.

In the welcome message, it tells me 3 commands: /help, /vote & /fb - I tried /help but it told me I have no permission, /vote doesn't exist and /fb also does not exist. You should probably fix that :p

What I think about user guidence (how easy it is to know your way around & what you're doing)
Firstly, I don't understand why you have plots or a PVP arena on a cookie clicker server... They should be separate (yes, I have seen the blacksmith). I pretty much get the rest of the server, but I'd just say one thing - theres no competition. Players like competition or something to win; you don't even have a leaderboard at the moment. You could maybe make this a network and the cookie server could be a hub, then you can exchange them for items in a Factions/PVP server and have a cookie leaderboard to hype everything up.

What I think you're doing wrong and should change/What I think you need to add & improve on
  • Make the menu item in the hotbar colored as it's the only item there
  • Change the "information" part of the menu so it uses normal English instead of "cookies_max_storage", "cookies_per_click", etc
  • Think of a color scheme and base every message format around it
  • Make the cookie clicker GUI bigger since when I jitter with both buttons, it sometimes slips out of the GUI
  • Remove the fake /pl as it's pretty obvious you have more plugins than just "CookieCore"
  • I haven't tested, but you should probably get AutoClicker prevention if you don't already (if the player gets more than 22 cookies per second, for example)
  • The "Cookies per Minute" should also work for clicking, not just upgrades
  • The casino gave me 3 "you won" messages (and I didn't receive my cookies):
    80pwz.png
  • Some prefixes are different to others, but most are okay.
  • You really need to fix the /vote command
Quality of builds & plugins
Some of the builds are decent, but I really try to encourage servers to not enclose their users in small and guarded places. You should remove the huge glass dome around spawn as (1) it looks WorldEdit AF and (2) it just doesn't look nice, you should base the spawn on top of a mountain or something IMO. Same with the casino & PVP arena; way too enclosed.

It'd be cool to have each section (or server, if you'd go with my network idea) as a "planet" (as your server is called "Cookie Universe" and they each have different biome types and contain different type of custom mobs which you can kill to gain cookies.[DOUBLEPOST=1468363019][/DOUBLEPOST]
Please keep these up, it's good to see feedback from someone who knows their stuff. Plus it's a fun read..
Don't worry, I'm going to be continuing them for a while!
