Indeed. I can say that as a developer myself. Of course I am not proud of it, but almost every human being is a in for the money.
Dis-agree, I know a few developers that enjoy there work. Which have High experience in developing plugins. And they care about the communite and the work he does for them. But AS it comes to money it's an extra for them which they can enjoy - yet it does not need to be alot.
I, in the other hand, also agree with you. I have done a lot of free work in the past. But I have never had the experience your friends had. I would still do small jobs for free, but development takes a lot of time hence developers asking money for it.
Indeed, but then again that will include if you're willing to do it for a High quality server - AS some developers just do it Becuase of the playerbase. In this case I agree of what you're saying.
Stop being so cheap Yoeri xD, first want a kohi plugin for 100 euro, then selling pika once eula issues arise, now want almost free developers.

Well not all the developers ask money. I had a very good developer before and he didn't even wanted money. But he quit because of school :'(
the only incentive here for a developer to not take salary is probably using this server as a portfolio buffer, and as long as it remains alive then you can possibly convince some developers to develop free as you give a legitimate recommendation/vouch when they apply to other servers for paid work
