Place To Make Thread Designs

Hey guys and gals of MCM! Today I am here looking for something other than photoshop that you can edit thread designs with. Any support would be nice

Personally, I think GIMP is probably the best free option.

Affinity Designer/Photo (Win/Mac)
Sketch app (Mac)
Inkscape (Win/Mac)
Omnigraffle (iOS or Mac)

GIMP is probably not the best option for thread designs as thread designs typically use vector graphics and GIMP is primarily raster like Photoshop. Inkscape is an open-source vector graphics program if Cyanist wants to go the free route.

Could you use thread design templates on there?
