I'm going to try and keep this concept short and simple.

I'm planning on hosting short, small tournaments offering the chance for people to actually win money for playing minecraft.

How will it work?

One of the tournaments I will be hosting is called "PvP Frenzy". Users will be given the chance to bet on eachother in PvP's and can have the chance to win almost double.

All pvp frenzy matches will take place on a server that has nothing but one game mode, designed purely for the tournament. It will have a clear map (to keep lag to a minimum).

Players can have tools (e.g. golden apples, arrows etc) if and only both sides agree to it before the match starts.

Rules

All players must bet at least £5 on themselves if they wish to participate. They will be randomly given a opponent (unless they specify otherwise) that has betted the exact same as them to PvP with. There will be a total of 2 rounds per match.

Example - Player 1 bets £5 on himself, while player 2 also bets £5 on himself. They both fight, player 1 wins the first round and the second round. Player 1 is the winner and takes home the money.

Alternatively, if both rounds have been won by different players, they will then proceed onto round 3, which will be the decider.

Gameplay

Cheating/hacks is strictly forbidden. The servers will be installed with premium anti cheat plugins already, and players will also be required to record their screens when pvping. The recordings on both sides must be submitted to the host at the end of the match.

Payment

For each match, I will be taking a 20% commission. So for example, if 2 players bet £30 on each other (so £60 in total), then I will take £12 and £48 will go to the winner. All transactions will take place on PayPal and PayPal only.

If you wish to participate, please let me know in the comments section. I have already done a few matches & all feedback is still welcome.

So you're basically making a free competition and you get easy money off of us?

20% is way too much as all you're doing is supplying a server really

20% is way too much as all you're doing is supplying a server really

20% will cover the following -

* Domain Costs
* Server Costs
* Premium Plugins I will be purchasing

All together I have invested £95 into it so far (£95.36 to be exact). Keep in mind that I will also be paying staff members to host the server while I'm offline, monitor matches & also paypal fees etc will be added on to the 20%. I am also giving up my time to do this so ideally would like a profit. Taking out all of the costs for the server, I would have a extremely, very small amount.

I also need a insurance in case anyone does any chargebacks. 20% is not 'way too much'.[DOUBLEPOST=1491169770][/DOUBLEPOST]
Ghost clients.

We will have other rigorous anti cheat systems in place, especially client side. Some suspected users
will also be thoroughly checked, and if they refuse to have their minecraft checked, their money will be refunded & they will be refused to be in the tournament.

I guess, but how does that all add up to $100 (£95 = $100+)?

Domain = 1 time payment(yearly) of $10 or x
Server = Shouldn't be much unless you're getting a dedi which is kinda stupid as it's just needed for a bet lmao
Premium Plugins = shouldn't be over $50

6GB RAM server to maximise gaming performance and keep lag to a minimum, which is exactly $60, domain which is about $10 as you said all the plugins add up to about $40 plus some money given to developers to fix a few stuff up. Give or take it costs nearly $115 just to build the server. The exact figure is £95.36 which is $119.62.

I am happy to answer any more questions and everyone is free to go on the server and have a look around before entering the tournament if needbe :). Practice matches available to test your ping, connection etc.

Hey good luck just a small question will there be a huge event on one day or are you just going to do it privately for two people each time?

who with?

BeastNode

What version? Are mods allowed (togglesprint, armorstatus, directionhud, etc.)? Do I have to actually pay if I'm PvPing?[DOUBLEPOST=1491187972][/DOUBLEPOST]
Aquatis has a custom plans and you can get a 16GB server for $24/month. You can even go up to 64GB being at $96/month which is the cheapest hosting around if you don't need a dedi.

Hi. You can practice on the server if you want (free of charge). Before you enter a actual match to win money, you have to send us how much money you want to bet on beforehand. We are using the latest version of Minecraft, but also have a server with 1.7.10 for people who prefer the very old clients, and 1.8 for people that do not like the new features. You must tell us what server you would like to PvP on, and what mods you would want. Certain mods are forbidden while others are allowed (your partner will also be informed of such mods, and they must agree to it before the PvP).[DOUBLEPOST=1491212699][/DOUBLEPOST]

Indeed, I pay about 20$ for 16gb of ram.

It's not a bad call for ddos protection, unlimited disk space and decent processors I suppose? Each to their own I guess. Just making sure the server doesn't get attacked half way through a match, and performance is at maximum.[DOUBLEPOST=1491213446][/DOUBLEPOST]

We was considering a huge faction-like event, where people are in massive teams on different sides of the a map, they have to survive, build and the last man standing in each team wins.
