About 2 weeks ago I got scammed on here for the first time when a client charged back $100 that he paid to me on Paypal for a building commission. I had fulfilled all requirements for this commission and transferred it to the client on time, so there is no good reason for him to do a chargeback; it's a scam whichever way you look at it.
I supplied several pictures as evidence to Paypal (From Skype conversations with the scammer, and pictures of my TOS). These pictures together basically undeniably proved that the buyer had no right to chargeback this $100.
I waited for a week in good faith that Paypal would give me back the $100 that I deserve, but to my surprise I got the following response:
"We have investigated the dispute. Because you do not meet the requirements for seller protection, the transaction will be charged back. The dispute is now closed."(translated from Dutch to English, as I have a Dutch Paypal account)
Indeed, I do not have sellers protection, because this was a digital good; I did not send it to a tangible location, so I cannot supply any proof of transportation. But on the other hand, the buyer/scammer did not have buyers protection either, as he did not enter a shipping address when sending this transaction. So I'd say we were on equal grounds, right? In that case my overwhelming evidence would have definitely won me this dispute, yet Paypal simply chose the side of the scammer because I had no sellers protection. So buyers protection does not matter at all? As I sell digital goods, I cannot possibly ever win a dispute, because I cannot get sellers protection when selling digital goods? That definitely cannot be right, yet that is the only conclusion I can draw from this dispute. Does anyone understand what is going on?
Thanks
