sometimes this simply isn't always good enough, it can get you far but still, some exploits don't really need human intervention. i highly recommend malwarebytes premium.

Ehhh? No. It's been 5+ years since the last piece of "malware" has been on my computer. Common sense > any anti-virus.

Don't really use one as most of them use so much CPU especially if you have an old PC. + If you have good internet common sense you will be fine and Windows Defender does a good job overall but at the same time, I'm comparing network engineer student so I have a good understanding of the internet compared to most people online.

No, because I know how to navigate the internet and not get viruses.
As a matter of a security fact, you do not even need to click and install malware nowadays. Many malwares are present in very trusted sources and can be directly injected via third party (Web browser, Word documents, Images, USB sticks, Softwares). Having an antivirus aids you keep up to date with such vulnerabilities. Don’t stay unprotected, get something like Hitman Pro Alert

Honestly, I have no clue why I pay for my antivirus software when I know how to browse the web without getting viruses, perhaps just for security I guess.

I picked up a free license for Kaspersky Antivirus (legitimately, had a promo going on or something) and it's been doing really well for me. Removing the annoying notifications from the software, it has been really helpful not only in helping myself be protected but has helped me with software updates too.

Considering I haven't paid a penny, I find this to be quite adequate.
