Problems with Advertising Bots

Uh, yeah. I found this skid's dox. He claims he sold it to a friend who's using it against him now due to him being fired from the staff team. It sounds like pure bullshit.

It can be seen either way, though, there is not enough proof to blame it on the server owner.

So in short, the guy advertised with a bot - some guy who was tasked to help, got kicked out and then used said bot to troll the original guy...

No wonder he got "fucked with".

Also, why do you/the owner gets you to share 10 hour long youtube clips in your posts? Are you 8 years old?

Kids running servers is the biggest problem in this community....

A mod should just close this now TBH - use regex to block the spam bots.

Hello!

I was wondering if any of you have also had the server mc.glade.io using bots to Spam Advertise their IP on your server?

I know me and my staff have banned 20+ in the last two days and I wondered if it was more of a personal thing or widespread at the moment?

Any comments will go appreciated and kind of a warning just in case you either thought of joining them or they spam bot you!

i got a plugin custom coded to prevent them and it has worked if u want i can sell you it for cheap along with the config that has the ability to add multiple phrases to blocked/baned phrases[DOUBLEPOST=1452294913,1452294882][/DOUBLEPOST]

Dude, to code a plugin like that is to simple, I don't believe anyone who knows a little bit about coding would buy it. There's already free plugins out there anyways, including mine that I made in 5 minutes. If any one wants my free minecraft server ip blocker plugin, lemme know. I'll upload it to Bukkit dev or spigot

You are honestly not readying a whole lot from this thread are you? You do realize that the guy said it was a friends server they played around on and they didn't want a big player base? It's fine for kids who have their own servers for having fun with a couple of friends. Biggest problem in this community is annoying little scrubs who act as jerks. Not going to say who is acting like that though, that would be quite more rude than you have been.

Anyways, nothing wrong with having kiddy stuff in your signature, how about you just have fun for once and do some kiddy stuff?

Oh yeah, one more thing for tonight. Like xerucide said, you never posted no proof.

Eh it's so easy to stop them honestly.

Use ChatControl with what Xerucide put or use mine alongside tips.

Here's my setup:

But I also have their initial commands they do with /register which I catch and ban them before they say a word.
So... you can do it that way too ;3

I haven't had a single bot bypass it yet + I add other servers as well which is super easy so they get banned without disrupting a single thing.
My server probably autobans about 20+ a day easily...
Additionally I've been scraping alt accounts lately and banning all of them as well to reduce the levels of floods.
And on top of that I have anti-proxies too which helps stop hackers alongside other spam bots.
Then on top of that I have another layer that will catch any form of spam where they have to enter a captcha every time & will kick & ban them if it's repetitive.

For all of that... it helps reduce spam bots, hackers, toxic players, and people who disrupt the server itself.

So far... not one bot has bypassed unless it was an actual person doing it manually. Even then I check logs everyday really quick alongside any reports and just add more parsing filters.

We've been getting spammed since just before Christmas...no idea how long it's been going on. After I found out it was an issue, I added it to the chatfilter. Problem solved, right?

Nope. Last night, we received a ridiculous amount of spammers coming on and spamming random letters. Checked the IPs, and they're coming from the same range of IPs that the Glade spammers are coming from. A couple ipwhois checks and some google searches and turns out ALL the IPs are originating from London Trust Media. (They offer VPNs, for freedom and protection.) I ended up just banning nearly every IP they own.

Overkill? Probably. I'm super irritated over the whole ordeal. I was on Glade's server a while back, when it first started, trying to talk to the owner. The only actual player (he was not "wood" rank) said the owner just does whatever he wants and won't listen to the players.

I'm not really into conspiracy theories or whatever this is/was. The fact that this guy made a premium Spigot plugin to block the glade spam...that's super, super suspicious. Whatever. Just wanted to throw out the information I found regarding the...IP similarities...between ALL the spam bots.

I don't remember his username. It was a while back. Although, since I've banned those IPs, we've been spam free. I have ChatFilter with a regex entry to mute them, so I don't need an anti glade spam plugin. One of my co-owners was freaked out by it (since he could still see the spam), and then when they started spewing gibberish it didn't help much. Hence the 1,000-something IPs I banned.

My apologies. I didn't look at the picture closely enough. He didn't make the plugin. It was on this thread at SKunity forums.
