So I started having this problem last night, the way I can tell its not a faulty motherboard reading is because the computer lags just like it would with a truly overheating processor. The processor is overheating at less than 20% idle, basically not even being used. I havent narrowed down the timeframe it starts to do this during but, as of right now after taking the cooler off the cpu and turning the computer off, its around 35-45C.
The thermal paste looks a little thin but do you really think the temperatures would be this high even with a thin amount at such a low use?
Here was my reading from CAM

Don't continue to use it, if its heating up to 99°C. You're running a high risk of damaging it.

Check the air flow in your PC. Air should be getting sucked in one side, and getting pushed out the other. You don't want fans either side both pushing air out, or sucking air in. That will result in mostly stagnate air, which will just keep warming up and not really help cooling. Air flow is quite important (Unless you're using watercooling, then you need to sort something different).

Are you using the stock heatsink (The one it came with) or something else? Additionally have you overclocked the CPU?

The kraken cooler is the best CPU cooler next to doing actual liquid cooling & no nothing is overclocked.

Its also known to have its pump die, Listen to the PC and look at everything, If the fans are turning and the CPU is that hot its your AIO.

Keep your PC off till then, or in the worst case I guess you could underclock it, which would lower CPU temps...

Just keep it off

It works after some restarts, kind of a hit or miss, already opened a support ticket with NZXT
