GetYourDeveloper is a competitive profile building platform for developers seeking freelance or full-time jobs. We want to make the hiring as simple as possible, and with two clicks. Developers can create their own portfolio by competing in weekly tournaments earning Division groups, the lower their rating is, the higher they are valued (i.e Div 1: 1-1000 is the highest classification). Users will be rated on their submissions they provide on factors like Time, Design, Topic-centric and etc. This rated system allows us to sort the best freelancer for a particular freelance or full-time job posted on the platform. Companies can hire users based on their profile statistics. The platform as mentioned above allows users to post freelance projects to help better create a legitimate portfolio verification passed directly through the platform. Developers can also attend quizzes for different languages and technologies to better test their knowledge and are ranked on a regional basis motivating for higher scores. The whole profiling system is created to promote competitiveness for making developers compete for ranks.

Employers can post their services, on what they need through a two-click portal
After a service has been posted, A fifteen-minute window is opened for developers to submit their quotes. After the window closes, the customer can view the quotes and select the best on to their liking. All the quotes are arranged according to competitive factors (i.e. Division Rating, Language Rating, completion rate, user rating and etc) and quotes. The employer can then appoint a freelancer to the project, and they are put in a private chat. After the details are finalized a 50% upfront payment is committed to GYD which will be in a holding pattern until the freelancer completes the service. After which the 100% payment is processed and the project is considered complete. GYD cuts no percentage(%) amount for the transaction or the service, rather a fixed fee is cut which can is exempted for companies hiring for a full-time job. The platform’s main objective is to promote and support hiring for full-time jobs in a manner where skill matters and no college degree. Everyone sits in classes, GYD’s profiling system explicitly displays’ the skill of a user registered in the platform through estimation, competitions and reputation.

Given the information, would you use this kind of (ie. this) platform? Please drop your answers in the comments below

A fifteen-minute window is opened for developers to submit their quotes.

That seems like a very short time. What if the developer is in a class, working, driving, sleeping? They wouldn't have time to respond.

What is the "fixed fee"? And might want to edit it to say which developers can be exempted from for companies hiring for a full-time job. Or something like that.

Sorry but, college degree means the person typically has the ability and drive to want to do something for a long time. Saying no to that isn't a good practice. Skill is very important, certifications are important, college degree is important. Places hiring for full-time job are going to be looking for all three.

Everyone sits in classes, GYD’s profiling system explicitly displays’ the skill of a user registered in the platform through estimation, competitions and reputation.

How are they to upload their work? This seems like those who first get started on it will remain on top and those joining later won't be able to compete because they will have nothing to defend themselves. Estimation is guess work, can't really base the skill off that. I would suggest doing an actual skill test, like how you have to do for certifications, or have them submit a certification. This is done on indeed, which is a job market platform that companies post jobs on and users make profiles on.

Ans 1: Our website is based on a large advertisement campaign, and the 15 minutes countdown is a default done, the employer can change it if they wish to. We are aiming to have a constant user base, so developers who may have missed their slot for a project, they can apply on any other one.

Ans 2: A fixed fee would be the transactional fee, it is a small amount, and no % of the commission itself would be cut.

Ans 3: That's again debatable, and highly controversial, though you do have a point. I never said in the post that College degrees are straight-up stupid, I just said that experience and skill is the important factor here rather than just 3 years sitting in classes. And I am unaware or not sure if you know what more and more tech companies are hiring on the basis of experience and skill, rather than degrees (you can search that up).

Ans 4: They can upload their sources of the previous employment and showcase different websites or products or projects they might have worked on their profile page under the showcase section. And no, people who join the platform first will necessarily be not in the top, as i said in the above thread post that the contest system is based on who does it best, every person who joins first join with a rating of "unranked" , and then when or after giving their first contest, they are rated according to their standing on the specific contest. After they are rated and continue giving small and short contests, their rating will either become better or worse. In every contest (after being rated), the system or the algorithm expects a certain standing in the contest, if they achieve that threshold, their rating will decrease (mind you: the lower the rating is, the better). And the ladder continues for Div 3, Div 2, Div 1. A person who joins late will be able to go to Div 1. If they have the skill to and institution. This system also helps developers learn more about their weak spots where they can improve.

If you have any more queries please contact me on my discord "Ribu#0001", please don't trash the thread (your questions are fair, but after this answer, I hope you are not offended, I answered as honestly as possible). I would more than happy to answer queries. :))

Per Ans 1: The employer being able to change the time frame of when developers can apply is an amazing feature to have! That defensively would put my worries as a developer and employer.

Per Ans 2: So the fee would be added on? Like a $5 flat rate fee for any order so if the developer quoted $100 the employer would have to pay $105? It also didn't tell me what the fee is.

Per Ans 3: I didn't say that you said that college degrees are stupid. Experience and skill are very important as I said. You don't typically sit through classes for 3 years. Have you been to college or are in college? Typically to pass a class you have to have some knowledge of that subject. That is why employers accept college degrees.
"And I am unaware or not sure if you know what more and more tech companies are hiring on the basis of experience and skill, rather than degrees (you can search that up)." Yup I know, I get offers regularly and I'm not even searching for a job, I've had companies call up other people to get my number to hire me for contract work.
I just think that there should be some emphasis on college degrees, not just experience and skills. Though hopefully if they have a college degree they also have the experience and skills to back it up.

Per Ans 4: That makes way more easier and seems far better. Though I'll make a quote on this "Algorithm: A word used by programmers when they don't want to explain what they did or how it works." So your algorithm is interesting, though maybe state how it gathers information/data so the employer can feel assured of using your service to hire personnel.

Also just to clarify a Div 1 is the best? So you start at "unranked" then move on to "Div 3"? and then the Div number gets lower the better you are?

Also not trying to trash the thread, just being honest and stating the concerns I have and questions I'd want answered as a employer and developer. Not offended.

Hey :)

So, I will keep this short

Yes, Div number gets lower the better you are.

Yes, you can add college degrees in your profile, it will have an emphasis, but GYD looks forward in their quizzes and contests.

A flat fee is charged, and the amount is currently 2.5$, but this is subject to change. The fee is added to the transactional cost, so the sum total an employer has to pay is "quote_amount + transactional_fee"..

I hope i answered this all correctly, Just hit me in a dm for any other queries :)
