The wiki is dead and nobody uses it. Half the new members don't even know its there. We need to fix that with either better promotion (don't ask me how, that's Mick's job) OR the allowing of informative/informational threads to be stickied by a staff member for free.

The reason the wiki is underused is because nobody wants to use it. You are most likely in the minority in this suggestion as most people aren't going to want the wiki shoved down their throats. If anyone wanted to use it, they would.

If anything the wiki should be removed as it is unused and not worth the effort it would take to revive it.

The wiki contains a load of information that all these new users asking for help in a dozen ways could make good use of. Idk about you, but it gets fucking tiring to type out the same set of responses to every idiot that needs to learn how things work from scratch, and being able to link to an article that goes into great detail on it is so much fucking easier.

While I respect your opinion, we will have to agree to disagree. The wiki has potential to drive traffic to MCM, but for some reason that's not happening based on what I'm seeing. My tutorial in the wiki "PermissionsEx for Dummies" should be ranked high on Google, but only the cross-post on a SpigotMC thread is listed on the first page.

This doesn't explain why it should be revived? The wiki would not drive any traffic towards the market as people who come to the market come here to trade and sell, not use the wiki. Also, why should your tutorial be ranked high on Google?

I think the point croc is trying to make is that instead of having to constantly tell people asking about random shit to go look at the wiki, we should find a way to make them aware that they should look there before asking the same questions 200 people before them did.

I use the wiki whenever I don’t know something and I need to look for an answer. It’s a situational part of the forums, you’re only going to use it when you need it.

Informational sticky threads are messy and half of them won’t be used at the same time. You recently made a post about parking domains(I believe if my memory doesn’t fail me). That wouldn’t be useful to majority of this forum and giving it a sticky would be a simple waste of space. A wiki post would suit this so much better as the people that are interested in reading about that can navigate to the wiki and read it.

The wiki also doesn’t need reviving, why promote a part of the forums that people are only going to use when they want or need to. There’s no point to promote something that’s not going to be a necessity on a day-to-day basis.

The wiki has POTENTIAL to be a driving factor to the forum. We members just need to post more helpful, quality articles that use SEO keywords sufficiently. The articles can be about anything related to Minecraft, not just MCM stuff. It's why having a blog is critical to SEO on other sites.[DOUBLEPOST=1518446735][/DOUBLEPOST]

There are currently no stickies in the domain section, how it would be a waste of space?

Who would want to go read on a topic when they can just watch somebody explain it in a YouTube video? Wikis and blogs are a dying media in general, not just here.

I for one prefer to not have to skip back and forth in a video or depend on some dude's ability to articulate. But if you want to watch a video by a guy with a heavy accent take 20 mins to explain something that can be explained in 500 words of text and 5 pictures, be my guest.[DOUBLEPOST=1518447888][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, and the majority of the wiki is on stuff directly related to the site, with a few general tutorials like Croc mentioned thrown into the bargain. Let me know when people start doing videos on how to avoid scammers on MCM.

Why have a sticked thread when if someone wants to read about the subject they can simply navigate to the wiki section, just seems pointless to me to have a stickied thread.

Then how am I supposed to solve this? Making a suggestion to say 'fix this' without actually saying how to fix it doesn't help anyone. If we want more helpful, high quality articles then feel free to make a bunch and that would be much appreciated.

Stickies cost money, we don't give them away for free and there are no plans to do so in the future.

Put the wiki on the top bar, I didn't have access when i joined.
I learnt about it a month later and it helped me so much. Learning what Vc Means, PP, DNDW etc.
This could help people a lot and i would love for more people to have access to.

With adding things to the wiki, people could type out a page and edit the page but need to be approved by a staff member if it is appropriate and if it should be there. If it is spam a warning.

I personally think this idea is a good idea.

:)
The wiki is, and always has been in the nav bar hasn't it? http://i.mc.mk/TZchIO

It already is possible for users to create their own pages and edit other peoples pages also and we haven't had any problems.

Some pages are locked such as the home page and the page about redistribution rights, not the ones that users make.
Ah okay. How does one create an article then?
