I was wondering how could I properly protect my server from DDoS attacks if the server I'm renting is from Hetzner?

just rent from OVH if they have servers in your area they have good ddos protection with ability to buy more if needed.

owned many servers never set anything up never had any go offline with ovh been contacted by them many times that i am under attack.

It's very common for servers to be attacked by other OVH servers, although from what I've seen it's more common on really large servers or hosting providers.

Yeah old ovu 7 or 8 years ago couldn't keep up with the dogs most of the time it can now it's not a issue never had issues in recent years and have had 400+ player servers
