Punishment to Rate Farmers

Hey MCM,

I believe there should be a more strict punishment to rate farmers, there are a few on the market known, but I will not be listing names.

A suggestion is to permanently remove their ratings and reset it and let them start over again with a second chance. If they abuse it, they will get banned(?)

I find Post/Rate farming annoying to see on the forums as new members will think that they are trusted just because of the amounts of ratings they receive.​

I think that disabling rates after a suspected rate farming would work. As well as disabling rates where they don't need be -- non-trade forums. For posting, disable adding to post count on non-trade forums and make the general discussions just what they are, general discussions. If it's seen people are still necro-posting or simply making dumb posts to get positive counts in trade forums, then ban them.

Most of this is due to stupid people posting shit like Ashly (banned) or ognameplease(also banned) and getting the "funny" rating. http://www.mc-market.org/threads/36299/#post-429279 This can prevent this part

Well true, however, some people on the forums... We all know who... like to upvote their own posts.
This leads to new members to think that they are "trusted" although they aren't.

Agreed, you should also take into consideration that the amount of (+) rate you have does not mean you have a high reputation (1/2 of the time)

True, maybe a way that will allow the new members to know who is trusted and who isn't is the amount of "winner" ratings they have on their shop thread. That's basically what I use to see who's trusted and who vouched them, however, there will most likely be people who like to rate their "friends" threads, so the punishment should be towards those who do that too.

The punishment for rate-farming is being permanently banned from rating, which I would consider to be a fair enough punishment for this type of thing (especially since ratings shouldn't mean anything like K3 said)
