High amounts of reputation are misleading as probably 80% of all rep is undeserved and is given for dumb reasons like being nice. Rep should be reserved for deals only as then it would do a much better job at displaying a user's credibility.

Well most people dont look into what the rep actually says and just look at the numbers so a user with 50 rep with 35 of them being "other" will look more credible than a user with 25 rep and all of them being deal related

No its not, its a problem with the site. People shouldn't be given rep which is used to judge credibility for how nice or kind they are.

The site shouldn't let people who are nice or kind be viewed as credible for that reason alone. If rep were solely based on credibility rather than being flooded with peoples opinions on how the person talked with them, users would more efficiently be able to judge who to purchase from or sell to.

The whole point of the rep system is to aid people in choosing who to deal with. + repping someone for how nice they are doesnt help people determine that users credibility

Do you believe someone's credibility is accurately determined by how many 10 cent "deals" they performed?

Someone doing something which creates such a positive impact on someone that a member goes out of their way to give positive review outside of a deal is just as if not more relevant to their credibility than farming rep through the mass purchase/sale of low value items where a review is expected.

There are other changes to the reputation system being made which will better balance out the worth of reputation with how the reviews are received, and you can read through suggestion threads for them, but this is not a suitable suggestion.

The rep system doesn't work like that. That's why People get scammed by exit scammers. They DONT take their Time to see their rep and go first

The rep system is complete shit right now, the only way for rep to be completely fixed would be if staff reviewed every rep individually and got rid of ones that didn't aid in justifying a user's credibility. That way no one would have to go out of their way to look at all of another persons rep and useless reps like ones for items worth very little or reps for how nice someone is, wouldn't exist.
