Hello,

If you're reasonable active on MCM, you get easily 15 emails per day with random things like someone replying to a post of yours or someone liking something you've written, which, for people like me with already overflowing inboxes, just gets more and more annoying.

What would you feel about an addon like https://xenforo.com/community/resources/xen-pushover-push-notifications.3039/ to handle push notifications properly on cell phones and mobile devices?

Feedback welcomed and appreciated

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

My suggestion thread isn't the way for you to get me to read your PMs, as for your question, it sends push notifications right to your phone and some more useful features
What’s the add on do exactly? —> also check my pms 1337 please

You can disable email notifications
The point of this thread isn't to remove email notifs, it's to make a better and alternative system to receive them via mobile

You should've explained it better, more than half your post is complaining about getting spammed with emails and it getting annoying.

That's explaining a potential use case or situation where this would have been / is useful. Regardless, thanks for the feedback

I believe he means (in regards to him just being able to disable email notifications) that he'd rather just get a push notification instead having another email when he already gets a lot.

If anyone cared to look at the app you're suggesting, you would see that it costs $5 to use the Pushover app for more than 7 days.
I'm not sure how many of our users would actually pay $5 just to receive MCM push notifications through a third party app.
Especially considering we would need to pose limitations on what pushover notifications can be offered since Pushover would only allow MC-Market to send out 7,500 push notifications per month unless we wanted to pay for additional messages. Their best rate being 500,000 reserve messages for $1k.
Without limitations, users could easily use up MCM's reserves, putting us into debt by spamming private messages to each other or themselves over their business accounts, which we do not have access to see and punish for, just as one example. Unfortunately, this addon does not allow us to disable or limit conversation pushover alerts by default, and already that would require custom development at the very least.

I see, maybe this could potentially be something to put on the backburner as this would be a very near feature to look into

For the reasons Justis explained, and just the genuine lack of utility that adding push notifications would actually have, I'm going to deny this suggestion for the time being. Maybe in a year or a few months if you still think this is necessary and somehow it's a better idea then than it is now, this suggestion can be recreated.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
