Okay so I'm getting this awesome website done for myself, and since I'm just starting things off, I was wondering how to keep both the domain and webhosting free. I understand it may be subpar to competitors, but really need it free for at least this moment. So I heard freenom and 00webhosting are good but I can't get my freenom domain to be on my 00webhost website. Is there a way to? If not, what should I do to keep both free?

Thanks!

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Hi there,

You're probably not going to be able to keep the domain free as domain registrars have to pay ICANN fees regardless. You may be able to find a cheaper domain registrar. I'd recommend using Namecheap and paying for a couple of years if you plan to have it for a while. That way you don't have to pay it throughout the following years.

You can get web hosting for free, but you get what you pay for with that. Free web hosts are known to be terrible in terms of speed, support, security, and more. I'd really recommend looking into a paid web host. There are some here on MC-Market that are cheaper than the big guys and still offer great web hosting.

Also, to answer your question, you can't mix the domains if you're on a subdomain (somedomain.000webhost.xyz can't be on another host) if that's what you mean. I'm not quite sure of your wording there.

I hope that helps you somewhat. Things don't come free in life for the most part.

Best regards,

I'm just gonna pitch in here, but 000webhost sucks. Its speed is poor and things like MySQL tend to fail on you even at the best time. You're better off paying for web hosting, believe me, it's worth it.

If you eventually get enough money try for a VPS or even a dedi.

Can I have some recommendations? I've seen many people offer here, I'd just like a price and maybe some advice haha. I think I see your point, this free stuff won't transcend anyone's standards.

Glad you see my point :)

I can't really recommend any of the hosts here currently since I haven't used their services first-hand. I know that they are better than those free hosts though as I've had clients that use them. Go ahead and just browse around or post in the hosting forum and you should be able to find someone hopefully.

If not, you can check out the bigger companies like GoDaddy, 1&1, DreamHost, and more. They're just going to run a bit more on the expensive side of web hosting.

I wish you luck with finding the right host.

If you're looking for a free domain/free website hosting, this is what I used 2 years ago when I started to learn HTML/CSS
http://www.freewebhostingarea.com/
Just sign-up, pick your domain, you'll get emailed the control panel login. It's quite simple, you'll need to get used to it though.
Best of luck!
So can I use a domain I already have for the given website? Thanks!
