Hi! I am wondering how some of you make your trailers and edit them, I mean I got replay mod, I know how to make the camera travel, I have a computer that can render 60fps.

I tried looking tutorials how to make amazing cuts (editing) but couldn't find ANYTHING, I know that you do need adobe AA to make some of the text animations but I still need help ;3;

Thanks for reading.

My trailer tips:
  • The best way to learn is to make mistakes.
  • Experiment and try to find your own style. Not only will it make you stand out, but it will also be more fun for you.
  • Take everything one step at a time and look at other trailers to see what they do and try to replicate that (to a point). It's okay to be bad at first. Everyone is.
  • Don't try to learn everything at once. You can never be a perfect at anything.
  • Always try to make the trailer you're working on better than the previous.
  • Don't be afraid to try something new.
  • Give a few trailers away at first, to learn.
As for the editing, there are lots of different editing programs out there. Some are better than others, but for the most part, anything decent should do. It does not have to cost a lot of money, just look around. AfterEffects is not required for text animations.

Good luck!

Depending on how you animate the text, and what software you use, the process is very different. Something that works on most softwares is manually animating one of the titles and copy/pasting it for all other ones popping up (and just editing the text itself). This is only a basic tip, but it will probably work as a start. Though, I would not worry too much about the text in the beginning.

Checklist:
ReplayMod (check)
Editing Software: you can use After effects but that's really hard to learn, I suggest something like sony vegas, it's pretty limited but you can still make really amazing trailers out of it as long as you know what to do.
Skillz: I learned from watching other people's trailers. Every trailer has a few things in common, so make sure to take note of that. Some things you need to learn are good camera angles, animated text (maybe later on and after effects is better for this), filters (after effects again later on) and velocity. Trailers look really good with good velocity.

That's what I use. It's really powerful for something free.

Well, I watched this tutorial, this guy used a mask to reveal a text and make it like it writes itself! Hitfilm 4 got way more to offer than I knew, :D
