[QUESTION] How do you safely buy ownership in a server?

Hi,

I recently came in contact with another mc-market user who has been creating a server for a few months. They have spend a fair amount of money on it and i asked if i could buy half stake in the server. This would just mean i would pay for half of expenses and i would recieve half of the donations along with helping with plugins, builds etc.

My question is this: How can i safely pay for ownership without risk of them keeping the money without giving me ownership. These guys seem like very trust worthy people although it seems like something that could be easily scammed. How do server owners on here go about selling partial stake in their server safely?

The only thing i can think of would be to set something up with paypal buyers protection. Any ideas?

have him sign a legally binding contract..

It works but not many people want to do that. Try doing it through sellfy and have the person show you he is giving legit file via screen share on Skype.
