A middle man is someone who stands in the middle of a deal between two other people. What they do is receive each part of the deal, and once they are ready, give both users what they were trading for. Its typically a safer way to do business with people. They usually are reputable.
For example, say someone was selling a minecraft build and was selling it for $10. If neither one of them wanted to go first, they could hire a middleman to help. The middleman will be sent both the $10 and the download to the build. Once he receives both of the things, he will give each of them their desired items. So, the guy who was selling the build will get $10 and the guy who sent the $10 will get the build.
