Hey, so I've been off of minecraft for around 2 years and don't really know how servers are going as of now. In the past I've created a somewhat successful server and was wondering what the current state of servers are and what popular. So really my question is, is making a server still profitable and if so what would be the best choice as of now. I remember having a server was a lot of fun in the past but I'm not gonna blindly put my money into something that's not profitable, regardless of the fun it shows. I'm just going to assume hcf is just a shit show of trash servers and dead players but if I'm wrong tell me.

Anyways I appreciate the responses in advanced and I hope to work with some of yall, thanks.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Making a server nowadays is an investment unless done properly with a good budget its possible to make it profitable. It's definitely not as profitable as it was before. If you do make a server now you need to spend a lot of money in advertisements in order to get a decent player base. You also probably need a good dev team to make custom/unique features that will make people want to play your server over the hundreds of other servers out there. If you are starting off, I recommend buying a good already established server with an okay playerbase on mcm then advertise that and improve it. These are things I have learned from experience but im certainly no expert.
