High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

2 x 2.4GHz cores, with 200-350 players online, and it been a PvP server? Nope

Are you sure you are going to get 200-350 players online? Unless you have a good $500-1000+ to spend on advertising, that most likely wont happen. Most people vastly over guess how many players will join their server.

I would get this instead: https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/game/ MC-32 or MC-64-OC that should be able to cope. But if you really know you are going to be getting 200-350 players, buy 2 dedis. You dont really find many servers that have that many players on a single server, unless its a network. Which have multiple servers on multiple dedis. Splitting up the load. Maybe then you could handle around 350 - 400

Either way a cheap OVH VPS isnt going to cut it for that many players. Way under powered CPU and 350 players could potentially saturate the 100Mbps uplink.

Thanks for the complete answer.

Is this one gonna be good for 160 players online ?
  • 4 vCores
  • 2,4 GHz
  • 60 Go RAM
  • 100 Go SSD RAID Local
https://www.ovh.com/fr/vps/vps-cloud-ram.xml (R2-60)

Its a bit better. However still lacking a bit. The VPS still has a 100Mbps uplink, which isnt great for that many players. If it gets saturated, everyone will start lagging. Which isnt good. Its still only using 2.4Ghz vcores, which again isnt great. Since MC primarily uses a single core, while off loading some tasks to other cores. Some plugins are also coded to take advantage of multiple cores, however most of the load is still focused on just one.

Since you are looking at OVH, a better choice would be the Game-2 (Game-3 would be better, if you can afford that one) from SoYouStart (https://www.soyoustart.com/en/game-servers/) SoYouStart and OVH are the same company. Since OVH is devided into 3 sites. OVH for highend servers, SoYouStart for midrange and Kimsufi for budget ones. The dedi would be far better than a VPS. Instead of 4 x 2.4GHz vcores, you would be getting 4 x 4GHz+ dedicated cores. It also has a 250Mbps uplink (Over double that of the VPS) which would be fine for that many players. (Unless your server uses a large resource / texture pack, that players download on joining).

I would recommend The FrozenHeart Hosting (http://thefrozenheart.org/index.html). Their hosting is actually better than OVH right now! They offer a custom panel, DDoS protection, domain setups, unlimited SSD storage, and many more things!

FrozenHeart Info:

Website:http://thefrozenheart.org/index.html

For more information please PM me on here!

Im curious. Which is the "custom panel"? I only see two panels on your site. VestaCP The free panel that 10,000's of people use. Or pterodactyl the open source project that already 100's even 1000's are using? I personally use both of these.

It's a custom panel once you're logged in.

  • KVM OpenStack
  • SLA 99.99%
  • 1 vCore
  • 2,4 GHz
  • 6 Go RAM
  • 25 Go
Is that good for a teamspeak server (100 slots, maybe 30 online)?

How is it custom though? It is still Pterodactyl, its not a custom panel they had built. They could have made a few changes, even then its a modified panel. Its not custom, since its mostly the same at the pterodactyl everyone else is using. I added quite a few things to my Pterodactyl. But that still doesnt mean I can tell people I have a custom panel, because I dont. It just has a few custom features.

Could you also please explain how they are better than OVH too? They cant even get the server specs on their website right:

I own 2 E5 2670's and they do not support DDR4 RAM. The best they support is 1600MHz DDR3. So they are lying about their server specs.

The websites not even consistent. The server spec change from page to page. I wouldn't call a 7 year old 2.5GHz CPU "Excellent performance" either.

OVH isnt the best out there, but given the choice between the two. I would pick OVH no question.

  • KVM OpenStack
  • SLA 99.99%
  • 1 vCore
  • 2,4 GHz
  • 6 Go RAM
  • 25 Go

That would be fine for TS. Though OVH's SSD VPS (1 vcore, 2GB RAM) would also be fine for TS, cheaper too. TS uses very little CPU and RAM.

They arent cheap. But the best company other than OVH i know of is Zare: http://zare.co.uk/ I have a server colocated with them, and they're great.
