I need tips for starting a business, the following services will most likely be provided in it
- Plugin Development
- Teaching Spigot
- Discord Bots
- And possibly other services

I noticed other businesses have a fancy ToS / website. They also have rules where they take % cut of what a freelancer makes. And they have fancy banners / GFX displays.

Do I have to do this as well? What makes a good business? I can't think of any other questions off hand, but I'm sure there's a lot I don't know.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hey,

First off it's a good idea to join a service team along with getting thread designs for your service. Also a website is a good idea. I can make you a website. Also build up a portfolio and add some vouch copies

Your business should be unique, so create your own ways to compensate those who work at your company. I myself am a writer and usually charge by cents per word, however I also charge by a certain percentage as well. I think most freelancers are happy to discuss terms with you.

Make sure your business is unique because there are so many companies out there so you want to make sure to stand out.

Something that really annoys me is when people using emails ending with @gmail.com or @hotmail.com or something like that. I'd highly recommend using your own domain and connecting it with a service such as Google. If you need any help feel free to send me a message iCrySam#9189.

You don't have to run a big service team or anything like that, it's fine to start as a freelancer. I'd actually recommend keeping it as basic as possible at the start - set up a thread, get some reputation and experience, then start looking to expand.

You'll find you need a TOS to help you deal with clients who try to take advantage of you, but that'll come with experience, guaranteed. Just don't let it get you down when it happens.

After awhile you might want to start looking into upgrading with a thread design, or a website, or even a partner, but it's vital you figure out the basics of freelancing first.

Not sure if you want to do the work yourself as a freelancer or start a team from the original post, but here's my advice:

If you want to do it as a freelancer, start small. I see that you already have a portfolio, so you don't have to start all the way at the bottom.
1. Create a thread with a lot of information, including images and maybe a video showcasing your stuff. A thread design is good as well, but it's not as important as people say.
2. Try to find a price point where you can get customers. This might be a controversial opinion, but I would say that you start at a slightly lower price than you find the maximum you can charge is. Why? The reason for this is that you need to build reputation. You don't need as much as you might think at first, but reaching double digits is good for trust. You'll also, which is even more important than reputation, learn how to deal with customers here.
3. When getting commissions, do your very best for each and every one of them. Try to make something unique and build a distinctive style for your work (could be through functionality, although design is probably better). This is important if you want to charge more later.
4. When you have some trust/rep, and (more importantly) a good portfolio of past client work, you can start charging increasingly more. On here, low budgets are more common than actually decent ones, considering the work. However, if you're skilled enough, you can get those jobs. If you stay at the bottom, your work will reflect that and you'll have a hard time growing. This is why #3 is important. It might take time, but at some point you may make money that would be considered decent or even good even outside mcm. At the beginning it is more important to focus on growing than focus on the money. It will be worth it in the end.

Also, make sure to put as much effort into what you do! This will lead to good reviews and thus more credibility.

If you’re actually looking to make money this isn’t the place. Most people here just do this for a hobby and the money is just an added benefit. If you have a minimum wage job you’ll earn far much more or if you have a freelance skill I’d suggest using Fiverr.
That's actually not true. People here make over 1k a month. And from my time on Fiverr, I made more in one week here. Fiverr takes so much time to get started and grow unless your lucky.

I’m sure there’s a few who are experts who are at the top of the game in their field who make that much. However, I’ve seen many threads being made asking how much people make on here, most people have made no more then $100 and have been on this forum for a long time and many in the negative for being scammed. Very few make 1k+ a month, and even then, you could still make that much money working a part time job. If you have a genuine skill in graphic design or another freelance field, you would be so much better off working on something like Fiverr where you have a huge audience and deal with more professionals instead of kids.
Yes but also many people here can't get a real world job, I personally am not old enough and would love to but can't. Anyways, I don't seem qualified.

Also, even if you have a huge audience on Fiverr, they won't recommend you that much or at all unless you have high quality work with at least a few orders.

p.s: They never said they do gfx, they were talking about development.

I was giving graphic design as an example. If you’re old enough to be on this forum, you can get a job. I’ve got mates who have brothers and sisters who are between 13-15 and they have jobs working in pub & restaurants and serving customers. If you’re around 15 or above you could probably find a job on a building site doing labour work and make decent money.
Every person on Fiverr started out with no reviews. Make sure you have a good portfolio and start at a low price. Once you’ve got some reviews and built your work up you can then increase the price.
Also would like to say,
1) My parents wouldn't allow me
2) Lockdown currently and would rather do stuff I'm proficient in than that sort of work
3) The area I live in currently (India) is not going to get me enough compared to doing work in the US. I'm moving back to the U.S in July but then again lockdown.

Congrats to your friends and I hope I don't look like an idiot.

I’ve looked at your threads are you’re offering to edit videos for a couple dollars, doesn’t seem like it’s going to well. Your parents are idiots if they don’t let you get a minimum wage job. Every parent should want their kid to get a job like that early so they learn about the value of money and what it’s like to actually work. Plus, working is actually fun, especially as a teenager when you haven’t experienced getting money before. You could be on $10 an hour and only work part time for like 20 hours a week and be getting $800 a month and as a kid it feels great because you can finally go out and buy shit. Lockdown is slowly easing as the days go on and we’re not that far away from life being back to normal.
That's actually an old thread. I'm doing work for $20 a video. At least I don't think they will and I probably won't even be able to and it would probably just stress me out.
