Whoever quoted you under 800$ probably has no clue what they are doing

From what I saw on the example provided
You'd need multiple payment systems, shop and cart system, design for all the pages and idk if you planned anything else besides that
But thats at least 1-2 weeks if not even more of work

How custom do you want it to be? A dev could use like the shoppy (or similar service) api to take care of most of the heavy lifting. Quote could be anywhere from $100 to $700 imo.

The example uses wordpress, divi & woocommerce. The woocommerce setup is very quick (20 mins max) and on the example hasn't been configured/personalised (still default). The site iteself isn't too difficult to replicate.

However, my quote was $160 USD which is cheap, but OP is wanting to spend $30.
