Hi everyone,
I created this thread to discuss, but also to possibly inform and give tips for future freelancers.

One that annoys me a lot is this one:
Me: Hey how much is a website going to cost approximately?
Freelancer: Depends on what you want in terms of project.
Me: How much can I expect approximately?
Freelancer: Do you want front-end or also back-end bla bla bla.
You guys will get my point, I just want to know what the price is.

Isn't it much more convenient to just work with packages that start at a certain amount? I think people would be much quicker to get in touch and be serious about a project because the price is roughly known in advance. What do you guys think, is quoting a thing from the past? Or do you guys think quotes are a better option than standard packages?

Reason I'm asking this is because I'm working on my own website, and I'm trying to implement this concept:

I'm still working on it, and it's in Dutch, but you can probably get the point.

Honestly, quotes can be used in conjunction with packages. If I ever put have package options on a service, I would automaticallly highlight that there would be a custom package. Another part of this is that some newer freelancers tend to see how much they can make on a project so when somebody contacts them with a quote they have a diff response. It could be something like “im interested in knowing your budget so I could tell you what you can get” or smth like that.

Pacakages + custom package being highlighted is the way I personally would go.
