This is unnecessary and does not look good.

A quote system on xenforo works like this.

The only thing you can do to the shoutbox is say

"Replying to....xx" But again you have the @ tag ability to do so and let the other person know you're talking to them

Quoting is useful on threads because threads can have several pages of content and for the flow of the conversation they're pretty useful. In a free-flowing chat like ours, it should always be pretty easy to be able to follow along with any particular conversation that's occurring.

From what I've seen in chat whenever there are several conversations going on at a time there's rarely any confusion. People can tag each other in their messages or just understand through context who is talking to who pretty easily.
