Amidst all the chaos and complaining going on recently I just wanted to say thank you to MCM in general.
Last few years I was in such a shitty depressing retail job and always wanted to do something more serious with artwork but not knowing where to start.
Over the years on MC i ran a couple servers and created my first couple server logos after getting my first plastic drawing tablet, i never realised that server logos could be a profitable thing so i only made a couple for myself and friends until someone told me about mc-market just over 2 years ago.
I honestly thought it was mind boggling that Minecraft was such a huge business at first, and i got my first few commissions rather quickly after posting my thread which was an amazing feeling! But due to my job and my ex at the time lived 4 hours away by train I never really could take it seriously, meaning I opened shop very very rarely and never got involved in the community even less.
However in the start of August I took a leap of faith and quit my job in deciding to do graphics full time which was pretty fucking scary for me, but my aim wasn't to just sit at home but to actually go to uni for short courses in graphics i would love to LEARN and APPLY to my work to either be able to continue the course i'm on or to use in my own personal projects and try to make it sell-able.
So in the last few months I went to a university that specialises in game, film, animation and more and i've learnt so much that i never would have whilst stuck in retail. Not only have I learnt things i could never have achieved but It's given me contacts already and opened my mind to how a lot of the stuff I do for buycraft icons and logos actually apply to a lot of things outside of mc completely.
I'm going to continue going to this uni, and maybe one of my future courses will let me work in the industry whilst on course! They have VFX and game partners, some students were able to work on guardians of the galaxy, star wars and some other shit. Would be epic... as long as its not fortnite.
TLDR: MCM has changed my life, and not even in a piss-take way, i'm super grateful. especially to those who have commissioned me
Sorry if this is excessive sappy but honestly it's amazing that something like this site has given me such an amazing opportunity to change my current course of life entirely.
