We all start somewhere! I suggest taking a look at https://www.dafont.com and finding some fonts you like. I suggest using some interesting fonts that can attract the eye, but it must be legible and clear when added. To improve on some skills, using youtube helps a lot as well. Hope I helped!

sans serif fonts are great for lots of text and provides a modern feel.

Focus on adding details example.

A background then creating boxes and use transparent when needed.

Do you have any colors I should use in specific for the background?

It isn't terrible! I have found that fonts like "bebas," and paid fonts are a lot more professional. But it depends on what your design and style is.
