Hello. Before going on a rant, here's why I'm suggesting we re-allow account sales.

  1. Obviously, the OG market is still alive. Most people are still doing account deals through skype, and it would continue the exchange of account on here.
  2. It's possible to put a large yellow banner (similar to investments) stating there is a risk of the account being locked by Mojang, that the sale of accounts violates the TOS, and that the products are not guaranteed.
  3. Allow the sale of regular accounts (migrated): I myself have many alt accounts, that I normally sell outside of MCM, and it would be nice to have a section for those. This section could even say that scam reports are not allowed.

Unsure if this has been said already, but there are ultimately two reasons why (what I think) account selling was removed.

  1. Many people were losing their accounts due to Mojang and the infamous EULA that I think is complete bullshit.
  2. I'd say at least 65% of all scams were account related.

Accounts were lost primarily because of their new flagging system+public OG "directory" staff here encouraged. I think it's bullshit too. A lot of people here arguing that OG selling is costing Mojang money, when they couldn't be more wrong. People are buying FRESH accounts to snipe OGs with, accounts that they otherwise wouldn't have bought. Plus, the vast majority of people who buy OGs already have their own purchased personal accounts. It's not like it's costing Mojang any money. Unmigrateds are a different issue.

Also, most scams were account-related because a big portion of all deals done on this site were account-related. If 70% of deals done on here were investment-related, then it would occupy most of the scam reports as well. I really don't see why staff complain about the number of account-related scam reports if a big portion of their traffic to the website was from people browsing the account section.
Very true. Thanks for informing me/us!

MC-Market is a great website, but community's shit. I mean, Mojang says we're not allowed to sell accounts, so we shouldn't do it.

Here's where I stand here. MC-Market could get into some trouble by allowing account sales take place on this forum. Therefore, in order to protect the interests of MC-Market and it's business, I simply don't think we will ever be able to re-allow Minecraft account sales again.

Illegal? Cite me where breaking a TOS and a criminal offense are the same thing.
When you buy our Game, you receive a license that gives you permission to install the Game on your own personal computer and use and play it on that computer as set out in this EULA. This permission is personal to you, so you are not allowed to distribute the Game (or any part of it) to anyone else. This also means you cannot sell or rent the Game, or make it available for access to other people and you cannot pass on or resell any license keys. You may however give gift codes that have been bought through our official gift code system. This is important to help us stop piracy and fraud and to protect our Game. It is also important to prevent members of our community from buying pirated versions of our Game or fraudulent license keys - which we may cancel, such as in the case of fraud.

MC-Market is a great website, but community's shit.

The community had nothing to do with accounts being allowed to be sold here - the sub forum was here since the start and was removed weeks ago.

I mean, Mojang says we're not allowed to sell accounts, so we shouldn't do it.

Is selling your own account harming anyone? No.

Many services don't allow their accounts to be sold such as Steam, Clash of Clans etc. but yet people sell them here and on other forums. Unless you're a Mojang employee, this shouldn't matter to you at all.

Not to mention this is actually illegal *cough* :^]

You're confusing "illegal" and "Terms of Service Breach".

Honestly they should just add the section back for about a week and see how it goes. The amount of scam reports have stayed the same and the original poll was completely flawed.

Allow buying and selling in private forums that only registered users or premiums are able to see, this will stop it being found on Google. Just gotta keep an eye on dem users.

Marc stated that according to their legal team, there's nothing that can be done.

We allow many other account types that break the ToS such as Steam, Clash of Clans etc, how are these different?

The real reason they won't add it back is because it apparently contributed to the majority of scams/the account market being an unstable business. All the people who claim this have never even taken part in selling/buying accounts.[DOUBLEPOST=1458348004][/DOUBLEPOST]Plus their are still the exact same amount of scam reports. Nothing has changed tbh.

Unless Marc is a lawyer, I'm not going to start taking his advice.

I'm pretty sure if they had the legal ability to take action against the market they would have done so. Why would Marc lie? There's nothing to gain from doing that.

lol what profit would there be against them (an american corporation) launching an international lawsuit that would cost them mountains of money against a site that is operated by an australian that has servers located in the UK? launching any sort of legal action against mc-market would be a jurisdictional nightmare for them and what would they be doing it for? to maybe save a few thousand dollars? they hardly even have a case against the site.

it'd be pointless. they'd never do it. the most that would ever happen would be a cease & desist.

there's no reason at all to not allow account sales on this forum. all it does is drive members away. i don't sell or buy accounts but i know that is bad for *my* business to have people driven away from this site over something so stupid and moronic.
