Doge had a rule that he would enforce himself of removing threads of any "SEMI OR OG" accounts that were claimed upon months of being unclaimed and then being put up for resell after these months, this list of people who have done it is extensive but here's some names i've seen:
DoctorOctopus (come on really...)
Tearju
Loincloth
Connotating
Bannister
Raton
Thanker
Keyarah (just added)
Almoner (just added)
Crenel (just added)
upholstery
porthole
Infile
Plunging
the list may go on, the actual only decent account in this list is probably Bannister and that in its self isnt anything special, if anyone actually wanted the name they would've claimed it themselves. This is flooding the market with absolute dogshit accounts and making newer users believe the point of resell for these accounts are higher than they actually are which is inflating the market beyond belief in the semi og market, causing people to just claim OGs left and right.

I agree with this, if I was staff I would go through the semi-og section right away and clear out all the crap.

I completely agree. The issue is that now there's nobody who actively moderates the OG/semi sections.

There are certain quality standards for accounts and there is a point where a word is so obscure and never used that it's not considered OG/semi. I would always remove these threads and people knew that I was one tag away from a non-og being removed. I also would lock threads and post something like "Regular accounts aren't allowed to be sold." Doing this consistently resulted in users being discouraged from posting low-quality names because they didn't want it to be pointed out.

I used to report these threads after, but I practically gave up after this happened: https://www.mc-market.org/threads/368247/

"Misspelled words are semis" - I was taken aback by this statement because whoever wrote that clearly doesn't know much about ogs/semis.

With no quality control, we always have people posting absolute shit-tier names they just claimed on a recently migrated account that will likely get pulled in a week. They then attempt to sell it for like $3. Nobody wants this garbage clogging up the MC sections and there needs to be at least a slight bit of quality enforcement.

You're confused, a lot of them were prenames, such as Omnipotence and Opulent, which means they have always been claimed by the same person, and have never been available to the public.

Also, I checked Hannibal and it doesn't apply for this either (Hannibal is from a few popular films):

I agree with what you're saying, but you're using the wrong examples.

I completely agree with your statements, although Opulent and Omnipotence are my accounts and have been mine for years. They’ve only been put on the market now as I no longer play mc. Please use better examples.

messed up on a few, GC snipes can be claimed recently aswell, and if they have no recent name history then that could mean they're either old or new, noone knows, also only hannibal i know is from eric andre :^)[DOUBLEPOST=1549196750][/DOUBLEPOST]

i wish i could react with
It's in the form of the "funny" reaction.

Like I said before, I really wish I was staff and could just go through the accounts sections. Im always told to report the thread but the reports take weeks to handle and Im sending these reports to people that are primarily uneducated in what Im reporting. Honestly Im considering making a thread for the addon of some sort of crafter staff rank (lets not name it that but u know what i mean) which is a rank given to people that KNOW THEIR SHIT such as me. If I had a rank like this, I could take requests on discord if people tell me to remove a thread, I could educate people if they are wrong about the hq of an ign, and I wouldnt be biast towards sellers. Trash IGNs would be removed with an explanation within minutes. Not to brag or anything, but the MC selling community would be a lot cleaner with people like me in charge.

Since the time this suggestion was made, the lovely aliensushi has volunteered to moderate the accounts forums for the site, solving the problem in this thread. Internally, staff have discussed the possibility and functionality required to give non-staff members the ability to judge whether an account is OG or Semi and I would like to get that system developed in the future.

For now though, Alien will be handling them and has been doing a pretty good job so far.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
