So people have already complained about the whole reputation thing being 1 value displayed rather than 3 values and a percentage. Your opinion is your opinion.

While some people will say it's now harder to read rep (really guys? It's one click), it's still pretty simple and honestly requires you to use your head just a tiny bit more.

I'm just going to note some things. If you already know these, skip this thread. This is just for the people who don't know these things.

1. In my opinion, one value is not representative of a person's rep on its own; give their full feedback a quick read.
When dealing with someone, regardless of how reputation is represented, you should really check in on peoples' reputation. People who complain now that you have to probably weren't reading reputation beforehand (on a semi-detailed level). It should kind of just happen. And yes, reputation values go into negatives. Don't worry about that.

2. If you're really that bothered by the change, click on a user's name to view their profile card. The percentage is still there.
If you're honestly feeling that lazy, the value along with the percentage should give you enough information to make a judgment. But again, I never recommend just looking at numbers. Look at what people have to say. That's what reputation is about.

3. When clicking on the reputation page for a user, there is still a stats section on the side.
Again, numbers (blah blah blah). This is a more detailed summary. It's also the equivalent to

https://sevr.org/i/cbe4bd29-627f-4b69-938a-8cb2ea063522.png

4. You don't actually have to read word-by-word, just skim.
Skimming isn't that hard. You can do it, I believe in you!

5. And again - always read the reputation.

It's all well and good to complain reputation aren't vouches. Reputation is much more social, much more verbal and long-term (at least in the way I see it). Let's humour it for a minute. If people stopped to read it then maybe it could work out a little better. But this point - a reiterative one, granted - is important if you want to deal with a person. Make your own judgments. Yes, reputation affects your business but most people should have the integrity to check whether reputation is relevant, informative or accurate. So don't stress. Just put in a little more effort and it'll pay off.

6. (Edit, thanks Cold for prompting me to explore a little) - you can filter reputation view types.

Edit: This is not primarily an opinion thread. You may treat it as such but if you don't want to use your head, that's your own issue.

I think the new repuation being one value is great, it doesn't make someone look worse based on the fact they had disagreements with other users, but many more positive agreements with users.

Yeah, the positives outweigh the negatives; especially if you put the effort into reading the reputation.

but does it always outweight the negative? like if someone backs out of a deal suspiciously or something?

I mean, if you can't be bothered to use your head and read the reputation, then you're basically putting yourself at risk. That's the only negative. Yes, that includes scammers. And it has always been that way.

that's the problem, people look at the reputation numbers and assume that they are all true (even the positive ones)

I disagree, the positives do not necessarily out weigh the negatives. Personally, I liked how I used to be able to see green, red and white. When you’re dealing with small amounts, I usually read through the red to see if anything bad pops up. I disagree with the one figure rating for reputation. It is not as convenient for me to click on someone’s profile card, go to their reputation settings and scroll all the way down just to see the number of greens and reds they have obtained.

I do not really see how this one figure reputation, prompts people to read more. I believe it to be much more convenient and encouraging for me to read someone’s reputation if it was visibly sorted into green-red-grey. Overall, that makes the process easier. Looking at 1 figure, I can’t gauge much and isn’t as interactive as being able to see three.

Personally, if you're judging by numbers then I wouldn't trust your judgment. But I raised points that should allow you to compensate:

lmao, I read the red. I don’t look at just the numbers. Here I can’t effectively read the red. And the stats page doesn’t appear on your phone unless you scroll down all the way

Then try this:

Edit: I should note that reading only the negative is not going to do much for you. You should consider reading all of it to get a balanced view.

1 Click

1 Click

1+1=2 clicks

That's 2 too many, I think you overestimate how much raw brainpower I have, although admittedly it is quite a lot.
On the desktop site, it's one click: You click on the reputation value. On mobile, it's two.

The click onto the profile forceses users to actually see what people have to say. If someone sees 9 neg rep they’ll hate on the person, but if they click the 50% and see they’re all ‘this guy cursed -1’ then they’ll understand it’s a bullshit rep.

I think it’s better than it was, because mcm is lazy

I personally like the last display better, but however I think they should make a setting where you can choose your preference on how others reputations are displayed throughout the website so you can choose your preference
That effectively negates the purpose of having the single value. It would also be something not worth implementing, in my opinion.
