Hey, so

This site has and continues to be a gold mine for many different reasons, but most of all it is the tremendous amount of unrefined talent being traded at lower rates than other public services.

Minecraft however is in decline, and being as this market place is in many ways centered around this game -- the site cannot continue to grow outside of this area, or at least -- not with the way it is currently setup.

I would like to propose the idea of moving MC-Market to a more broad standpoint, that continues to allow talented young individuals develop content and resources so that it can be traded with other users, at competitive rates.

This site has also been a great way for young adults to get hands on experience with starting their own businesses and networks, and it was MC-Market that provided that opportunity -- because it has the ability to reach a like minded audience.

While rebranding could potentially be devastating, a redirection to a new trades forum could work quite well -- but then again, I don't know much about SEO or web related things in general. What I do know however is that this site used to have an overwhelming amount of content and it's not so much in abundance as it used to.

Just food for thought.

Cheers,
Velcer

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Minecraft is getting a second wind: https://gyazo.com/61ae7d8fc07fbfd8cbc06ac810836a38

Although rebranding has been suggested multiple times by other threads and is something that shouldn’t be denied consideration, we wouldn’t rebrand just for the sake of it. We would need to have firm footing in terms of our staff team, our response times, our development, and also know what it is we’re rebranding to and why.
Simply choosing a random new name for ourselves and shuffling around the forums a bit isn’t going to produce success.

If you’ve got more specific ideas, then I’m definitely open to hearing them. Otherwise, this thread merely serves to ask the same question that’s already been asked but been provided no conclusive answer.

Hey Justis
First and foremost I didn't read perhaps old threads started by other users. I've been a little bit of a hermit on this site for a while, but I poke my head out from time to time for different things. Ultimately I created this thread from both nostalgia of what this site once was and the convenience it is capable of providing.

I am not skilled in any kind of web related content, or services. I couldn't give you a strategy that would work. My intent is a simple one, and it is to provide some food for thought. Your reasoning is sound -- but don't (and I'm not implying this is the case) leave it to the community to come up with something that might never be presented.

Sure -- the popularity of minecraft has risen a bit, and this is due to the lack of interest in the big games such as Fortnite and other titles that have been hurting themselves -- but I'm sure you know as well as others that things that are old like minecraft don't get a second chance. Everyone has played it -- but you won't have big servers like there used to be, and the market place will eventually realize that the potential for income is decidedly negative.

I understand enough to know that this website either needs minecraft to have a miracle, or the direction needs to be shifted, and as I mentioned earlier in this post -- It's not a good idea to wait for a suggestion from the community. I brought this up because we are here, as a minecraft community -- and I'm sure others will likely continue to do the same, because they value the success of this website just as much as you, or others who run the website.

I can't provide more than this .. ideas for a foundation to something greater, I'll leave that to those who have already been in the seat for many years.

I just want this platform to continue to offer what it has, but not just that -- other things too. It would be amazing if it wasn't just minecraft players who sell development services here, but also game developers, or perhaps music producers .. Marketing strategists .. and the like.

Cheers,
Velcer

For the moment we are sticking with our current branding until we can get everything completely perfect, but maybe once we update to XF2 we can start to consider the idea of rebranding more seriously.

Until then though, denied, thanks for the suggestion.
