Would this get me more FPS on Minecraft? If so, how much more?
I say this can easily run max at about 50-200 frames.

I currently run a AMD FX-8300 and usually average 100 frames with some ordinary graphics card.

In what situation would I get 50 FPS?

Probably intensive activities going on such as:
- Massive Entity lag
- Mass amounts of mobs
- Forge mods processing
And would this be if I was using an ordinary 16x or maybe say a 128x pack?

It should work. I ran a 128x pack on my 8300 which is weaker than a 4690 and it handled it decently.

Instead of a 970 wait a little bit and get the RX 480. With the money you save get a better monitor. The monitor in the list is 1366 x 768. Also 16gb of ram is a bit much, you really only need 8.
True. I just wanted to make this setup future proof, so any new releases that come out, it'll be ready.
