Recording Software

Not writing a fucking essay at 3 AM on my phone but uh
What's the best recording software? Fraps quality is ass when I compress the file in handbrake at 1080p 1280x720 (quality is set to 20 in handbrake), OBS just times out everytime I attempt to record, Action drops my fps alot..

I don't have a potato, it's just that I want some nice render settings but seem like to can't get them

Action is the way to go. I've tried fraps, dxtory and OBS but none of them seemed to give me the fps/quality ratio that action provides.

I personally use Dxtory, and once you figure out the way to get it to stop recording at settings that end up as 1 GB/minute, it's a very powerful and nice recording tool. I tried Action, but I couldn't get it to work even with support from Mirillis themselves.
OBS is the good free option, Dxtory is similarly complex and fit for both streaming and recording, but is paid.

I use to use that with some lossless codec, it was meh quality. Can you recommend any codecs or just use default?

I use Lagarith's lossless codec. Is that also what you use?
anyway I tweak some settings myself as well, but I tend to send it through Cyberlink Powerdirector, which I somehow have a functioning free version of. that may impact quality positively

Yeah, I used to use that but I can't seem to find it anymore in downloads.
