my friend had an account with a really OG name but it got hacked some how and someone hanged the name. I’m wondering if he can somehow get the account back if he can recover the name?

If your Friend had access to the Email or TID of the account and whoever hacked it didn't, then he could reclaim the account through Mojang Support (just google how to do it) but the name may not be recoverable unless it was changed in the past 34 days or smth
