Rule 1.14 [Making goodbye threads] is a rule that should be altered or complete removal. If people are quitting let them at least say bye to their fellow MCM friends

I feel like many of these threads give insight on what went wrong with the site and the community that not only can the staff fix but also the users of the sight.

I agree that the rule appears to be overly strict, but I think quite a lot of you weren't paying attention during the period when this rule was first included. The reason for it was because every other thread in General Discussion was a "Goodbye" thread where the user was sniping not just at staff and the site in general as 'reasons' why they were saying goodbye, but also at other users, turning almost every thread into a flame thread.

Paired with the fact that at least half the people making those threads didn't actually leave, this rule was implemented. Provisionally I agree the rule should be modified, but I do not feel that a return to that time-period would be a good idea.
Perhaps something along the line of anyone making a goodbye thread should expect their account disabled inside of a specific time period, or anyone making more than 1 goodbye thread in, say, a 6-month period will be suspended/banned, to prevent people making these just to get attention, which was the original reason the rule was implemented.

I think it should be removed and although I’m new here there should be certain criteria you should meet like a certain amount of reputation and a certain time on the site

Edit: I do understand most of the time people are making it seem like all sad, making jokes about killing theirselves, etc. and shit then get the thread removed. But if people are generally saying "goodbye" because of school, jobs, etc. just let it be.

There’s no other reason to make a goodbye thread other than to start beef or petty yourself because you’re depressed or whatever. If you’re going to leave, you’ve most likely told most people you know well, you could also just put that you’ve left in your profile.

I totally agree with you, which is mostly why I think it should just be changed slightly to the point where the ones like that they should receive warnings and be taken down.

Not needed, people who leave are filling the website up with junk. If a new member were to join and see all the Goodbye posts it would give a bad outlook. Just post it on your page.

I agree in a small way, but if ths goodbye is left on good terms then why would new people want to leave. If it's left on bad terms or disrespect, etc. then they should be warned and it being deleted. You know?

1.14 as a rule is great. Goodbye threads tend to just hate on past members and are focused on friends and associates. If you want to thank for friends or say something nice, there's no reason you can't just do that privately. Hating on members publicly is unnecessary and should also be discussed privately. Plus, a majority of the goodbye threads made are on people who are barely even known throughout the community, so they just don't matter for the general public, and well-known users often leave the site by exit scamming or by leaving without notice so that they can come back for the future.

TL;DR - If you are going to leave the site, tell your friends and associates and clear up your issues privately. Once done, disable your MCM account. If you're going to not disable / keep your account / return, then don't make a goodbye thread since you aren't actually leaving. And if users are leaving, why does it matter if they receive warning points for it? What do they care?

But what's the full use of people putting in their goodbyes? Its a marketing site, not really a Reddit, or forums to make relationships and you can agree with that. Its not a social media, or a school either.
