UPDATE!
Listening to people's feedback, I would like to instead suggest adding a 'disputed' status. The rep would be visible on the profile, but would be displayed as 'disputed' and wouldn't effect the total rep score.

Hey,

So I have had a false negative rep. I disputed it but the person who left the reputation is telling me to wait several days before they provide 'proof'.

I would like to suggest that the rep is removed from a profile as soon as it is disputed.

The rep would then either be deleted or put back on the profile depending on the outcome of the dispute.

Hopefully this will encourage people to resolve the dispute quicker instead of waiting a few days to even get a proper response.

Thanks

Wouldn’t this result in people being able to dispute all their negative rep? We do have a backlog on them indisputably which would mean that effectively people just would only get positives ... the numbers shouldn’t matter as much (which unfortunately people opt to keep for simplicity & bragging) but rather the actual content.

Valid point - maybe there could be a 'disputed' status?
The rep would be visible on the profile with the status 'disputed' and wouldn't have an effect on the total rep?

Or Mick could just promote these hardworking chat moderators to normal moderators so we can finally have people settling the huge backlog of reputation reports.

There wouldn't be such a backlog if there was a definitive idea as to what we as a site consider "reputation" to be. I see users asking in threads if it's okay to give someone negative reputation over a statement that they find offensive (which in reality is more than likely a statement they simply disagree with) and this is the reason people have to constantly dispute what's left on their profile.

Well, that's the same as scammers and just salty people adding negative rep and having to sit disputing it for the next 12 years? I think disputed rep should only be visible to the person who added it and obviously the accounts which the rep was added too, I don't see why this is bad? Currently, If someone adds bad rep to your account saying idk "You scam or DNDW" you have to wait for ages for it to be disputed....Which isn't right at all especially when it's false and causes people to not trust you etc.

"people would have no way of warning people" True, But what if its false claims? I don't see why we should have to sit with false claims that affect businesses and just your reputation in general when doing sales with people...And lets be honest, People use the rep system to neg rep people for nothing or "thread trashing" when they get salty than they actually do to "warn people".

All comes back down to staff, Making people sit with the negative rep that's visible to everyone for ages just because you don't have enough staff to deal with it is ridiculous.

Edit: So it could be abused but tbh scammers and rule breakers will always abuse systems put in place so why make the true members suffer? If someone disputes a rep just so it gets hidden and turns out to be true then it still gets added and they get a warning point or something.

This is a very good point. Since the time that we have added our feedback moderator role we have also significantly reduced backlogs and have kept them down over the past few months. If you receive feedback that you do not agree with, you are able to leave a comment explaining your side and why you feel that the feedback was unjustified if you want to.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
