Messages from the alleged scammer and victim should not need to be approved by a moderator. If it takes 2 days to get your message approved and get a response from the other party, the scam report is clearly moving slower than it should be.

Why do this instead of try and resolve in PMs?
Most people including myself like to resolve and update a scam situation publicly, so won’t engage in private messages if a scam report already exists.

It wouldn't need moderator approval if we didn't publicly display scam reports. We have to include this to ensure no personal information slips out from either party since there is sensitive content being discussed. Other times, it's just for quality control where irrelevant posts are being made.

I do not disagree with your thoughts that scam reports are held back by approvals, as that does slow things down. But we would need a solution that allows us to filter messages for the public to see.

Perhaps only approving messages to be shown to the public?

why don't you make it so that each party can see each other's messages but the public can't until you approve it

There's been a company that I did a support ticket with at some point (I don't remember which), but they had a section where you can put information and then there's a separate field where you put sensitive details such as login information.

Perhaps a system like this could be brought over to scam reports, where the users can upload proof which is shown as soon as the thread is created, but then also create a field for sensitive information to be posted such as chat logs including personal information which would only be visible to both parties and staff?

Just an idea I'm throwing out there that I wouldn't mind feedback on so that we could reduce problems with scammers having an advantage of us having to manually approve scam reports.

I reckon this idea may be a bit better then what you put above Mick, because people get careless when they're angry and could potentially post sensitive content regardless to a section for uploading sensitive content, so ensuring its private till its confirmed for the public would be a grand idea.
Approving messages before showing them to the public is exactly what we do at the moment though?

SR, victim, and scammer can see posts before they're approved. When SR is online, it can be approved for everyone else to also see.

At the end of the day time is the most important factor of a scam report. Some of these reports remain open far longer than they should all the while scammers are able to potentially commit more scams.

Since the time this was suggested we have added a new Scam Reports tab on users profiles, which I believe solves this issue pretty well without making scam reports public when we shouldn't.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
