“5.5 Do not start an auction-style thread without specifying a reasonable auction end date.”
Since this rule was added, NOBODY starts ‘auction style threads’ everyone bypasses this rule by using ‘starting offer’ and ‘current offer’, is there really any use for it?

It can be used to shut down the really ridiculous threads, like auctions where there's 6 month end time for something worth $50 or so.
I'm pretty sure I talked about this somewhere a year back, but basically it's meant to keep people from stalling auctions for too long.
An auction time of 6 months is reasonable for a product whose worth is counted in the many thousands of $, whereas 1-2 weeks is reasonable for stuff <$100

the point is though that everyone uses different terminology to bypass the warnings for it so there’s actually no point for the rule to be there lol

Bypass the warnings? Do you mean to tell me there's been people with auction end dates set to BS-lengths and nothing is done?
or are you talking about people that say "bidding ends after X amount is reached"? Because that'd just be stupid as auction, especially if they include a minimum biding amount, since it'd be possible to predict the winner.

All in all, with a rule like this that's not really useful but has the potential to be useful in rare cases, the big question is, is it harming you or someone else? no? then there's no reason to remove it.

It has harmed my dear friend Chearful
You're gonna have to elaborate on how a rule that seems to be used only for people that make bullshit-length auctions has harmed HIM, of all people.

Say I want to sell an account. I list the account and then have a reasonable ending date such as in 3 months. Say I don't have the best luck. Maybe people weren't taking interest to it, something weird was happening, or just suspended for some reason. As I see it per mc-market rules I have to sell this account regardless of what the top bid was, even if I wasn't content with it. Some people don't like being forced to sell their products for whatever reason. I get what you mean though Ivain and I've seen the accounts section stray from an auction like place to more like a "here's my bin, its pretty high, i really like the account but you can bid at this starting bid even though I'm not gonna accept anything more than $20 short than my bin because it's my main and reasons." Maybe a small sub section for actual auctions and bins? ( Might get messy tbh ). The majority of threads though weren't like they used to be.

The rules needs to remain in place at least until the auction feature is implemented (was going to be implemented last year but seems it's just another thing Mick gave up on).
The majority of posts where someone is selling an account has a starting bid, increment, and sometimes a BIN. The majority of them result in people bidding for an account, only for the OP to not sell it until it hits the BIN price. If you're just going to wait for someone to bid a 'good amount', then just sell it non-auction style. I often see sellers waiting for more bids, but end up reducing their BIN because nobody is BINing it, and because there is no end date. Because of rule 5.3.1, you cannot retract your bid, and so if the OP waits for 3-4 weeks for more bids and doesn't get any, your stuck buying something you bid on a month ago and you'll get suspended if you decide you don't want to buy it anymore.
Either just say "offer me", don't sell auction-style, or sell it auction-style with an end date.

Here's a few examples of this shit where people bid and have no chance of getting the account as the auction goes on for months:

https://www.mc-market.org/threads/296431/
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/289280/
And hundreds of others...

Also, this is why I never bid on any accounts, because I know there is a 0% chance of getting the account unless you're willing to pay the BIN price up front. And at that point, what's even the point of selling things "auction" style? Also, some people don't even post BINs, but they already know how much they want for it, they are just being greedy and trying to get as much as they can for the account.

I hope to look into adding in an auction system again. We did get a system developed a few years back, but it was flawed and so we're going to need a better approach before we create one again. After some of the other more necessary development that we're doing we can start looking into making more quality-of-life improvement changes like this.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
