It seems super small but each time it happens, it pisses me off more and more. Thoughts please.

i mean it wont take 1minute to remove it from siropu's template anywaysAh, yes. Have you tried just pressing/clicking @ and when it tags them simply removing the comma?
60 mentions with comma removed manually == to the 1minute jason will take to remove it entirelyIt won't take but less than 5 seconds to remove the comma from your message.![]()
But think of the UX! 5 seconds is a lot of time for users to correct a should-be non-existent problem Capaldi,It won't take but less than 5 seconds to remove the comma from your message.![]()
bro he only has to open the template and remove the , fairly simple no need to make it like he has to create something complicated or do something complicated to remove it? its literally 1 minute admin panel > appearance > templates > siropu's template > remove the,I see this as pure laziness from the members who would rather Jayson implement something or modify something for them when they can easily do it themselves and doesn't require much time.
If you're putting 60 mentions in one message, that's on you. If you're referring to just having to remove the comma each time, it's still less than 5 seconds. This isn't something that will drastically improve the site and is nowhere near a priority over the other suggestions that have real improvement to the site.
smh i guess siropu took another approach for xf 2Not quite a template change as it's JavaScript since it's executed on click into a pre-existing text input. Better to have things cache-able! (See here)
Rather small change, but I imagine it would be better to keep the comma if the text input is empty or the previous character is an emoji/starts with a ':' and remove it if this is false.
In most situations, a comma versus no comma, no comma will come out on top as 90% of situations will not require a comma. The opposite could be argued from your perspective because, I imagine that if they need something to finish off their message, they could take a little extra effort to do so. This is just a stupid feature and should be removed. Not quite a template change as it's JavaScript since it's executed on click into a pre-existing text input. Better to have things cache-able! I went ahead and pulled up the chat archive and marked out every message with a mention. Any messages without mentions or was an ad I blotted out.In most situations, a comma versus no comma, no comma will come out on top as 90% of situations will not require a comma. Heyyy thats me xDI went ahead and pulled up the chat archive and marked out every message with a mention. Any messages without mentions or was an ad I blotted out.
As you can see, 100% of the mentions on the first page of the chat archive at the time I made this post required a comma. Evidently, nobody really notices anything until it causes a problem.
I went on to filter for only messages with mentions and well...only one message required comma removal...which was a mass mention.
There wouldn't be a difference in the chat log if there wasn't an automatic comma. It's not a valid argument because in both instances, one would be lazy. To prove this trial, you could remove the comma temporarily for a day and see.I went ahead and pulled up the chat archive and marked out every message with a mention. In proper english, sure, but the culture of this forum suggests that we shouldn't use formality in our shoutbox messages, and the comma should be removed. There's no reason to keep it, and its much more convenient to address someone in the middle of a sentence without having to take a few seconds to delete a comma that shouldn't be there in the first place. When you address someone, a comma would come after their name, right?
This doesn't need 'fixed', there is not anything broken about it. It's just something that annoys certain people and definitely not enough reason to do something about it. If you don't like the comma, do it yourself.
it should be pretty easy to type a ", + space" rather than "delete + delete + space."
