Remove the funny reaction

Hey,

My suggestion is to remove the 'funny' reaction, it brings a high amount of immaturity to the market and it doesn't even count towards your reaction count.

It's a literally pointless reaction.

Or another solution would be to remove it from sections where actual business takes place.

Any suggestions related to modifications to the reaction/rating system will be declined. This includes removal of the entire rating system, additional ratings, changing ratings to neutral, etc.

However I would say funny is used mostly to try and annoy people, and on threads that are made by someone lacking in the brain cell department. Thinking they can get a $200 loan, even though they joined that same day and have no rep at all to make people trust them with an amount like that. Threads like that, we've all seen them.

Its mostly a misused reaction. If it was removed, it would probably be better for the forums in a way.

I'd say it should be enabled only in the Discussion section, since basically no business is done there. I do think it should be removed in the business sections. It's really stupid for a user to rate a thread funny, even if the thread may be ridiculously stupid. We generally don't need it in business.

Or we just make it a postive reaction and everyone won't spam it on threads anymore but use it for actual funny things.

This is something that should be thought about, I had some people funny a ton of my comments and threads just for the sake of fun, most of those funnies have been removed since but it's still annoying when people just use the reaction randomly even when it's obvious what being said is not funny at all.

I'm pretty sure this has been suggested several times already, but whatever. The "Funny" reaction is only immature if you look at that way. If you choose to react because someone rates your thread as "Funny", that's your problem. You don't have to let it bother you. People are going to react with it if they know it annoys you.

I actually believe a single funny reaction is a rather healthy way to express your negative feelings towards a post. Considering none of the alternatives are that the person with the unsavory opinion will pass up the opportunity to express it in some way.
If you get spammed, report the user who spammed you with them, that's abuse.
Otherwise, accept the funny and move on. One user's opinion about your post is neither something you can help nor as harmful as your fear might lead you to think.

Easily farmable. Rack up tons of positive reactions by bullshitting your way through every thread making a total ass of yourself.
"Look, now I'm reputable".
That's exactly why it was made a neutral reaction, because it's used in a neutral way, not a necessarily positive one.

My competitors react to my business threads with funny in attempts to get people to not order from us. I suggest removing them from Shop threads.

I'd say to add the 'Disagree' emote on forums that are spammed with the funny emote. This makes it so users can say, 'Oh I disagree with what you have to say' instead of, 'Haha! This guy has no idea what he's talking about'. The bad part about this is could leave more of a concern to users who would first view the post as well. If a post is bombarded of from other competitors, new MC-Market users would back off. However for people who have stayed on the market long enough can most likely realize it's from competitors who are being immature and childish when they look at the post throughly.

To go into depth, it's really about perspective and how we view different points from people. Theres a difference between trashing a thread and making a good counter point. I sometimes see the OP ask, 'why did you leave a funny (username)'. This can be used in the same context when asking why did the user leave a disagree emote. And if the user makes a decent counter point, the 'disagree' emote is valid to other users who view the post, otherwise it's meaningless.

To keep it short and simple, add the disagree emote to forums that are spammed with funny's. This can clear up more understandings and overall have a more professional effect on the market place. But in the end its how we interpret the emote, I'd usually check if the user followed it up with feedback to his/her disagree emote. If theres none I assume it's immature competitors or users that like to hold grudges.

+1, just remove them from the marketplace sections, like servers, designs, web development, etc..

It's simply creating more work for yourselves. If it was removed from the business sections like plugins, servers, etc then it would clear up a whole lot of reports for staff.
The purpose of this market is primarily business, funny reactions are a way of indirectly deciding whether a product should be purchased or not; that is given to anyone on this forum. It's a form of trolling, just 5 funny reactions could affect business in such a way that potential customers think it's a joke thread.[DOUBLEPOST=1500629932][/DOUBLEPOST]

It is definitely not a pointless reaction. Just because you're probably so butt hurt people find some of your threads like this one funny doesn't mean we should get rid of a reaction due to personal reasons.

This is the type of comment that deserves a funny reaction.
A funny reaction isn't good for business, it's a way for a competitor to indirectly affect your sales. Not good on a marketplace.
