How many people on here believe that the site would be better off if the current reputation system were to be removed? I for one miss the days before this system was in place where you had to go out of your way to figure out who was reputable. Along the way you got to interact and meet a lot of people and potentially have a conversation with them. Today, people farm the reputation system and force newer users to do what they want because they lack a high number next to their name and it’s inappropriate.

I also forgot to mention that a lot of users have created a false sense of security because of reputation. A lot of users believe if a user has a high reputation count they should automatically be trusted. This eventually backfired when they see a member with a high reputation scam out and they genuinely wonder how it happened!

Make it against the rules to beg for rep. Saying "Could you rep me?" after completing a deal would be fine but no "rep me rep me rep me please rep 4 rep".

I like how you can leave reputation based off the person's attitude/how they treat others, as it encourages people to not be toxic.

Reputation matters for trust of course, but there are other factors that go into it. Every user has to start somewhere.

This isn't meant to be a sellout but if people would be open to accepting RiftCoin or something similar along with PayPal/BTC then it would decrease the chances of scamming.

The real changes we need are the hardest ones, and those are changes of mindset and what we think. It's easy to change the rep system, but hard to get people to stop scamming.
The whole rep for a rep thing for the most part is already against the rules as of now. Moving to offshore currencies run by members with 0 regulation or accountability is also not going to prevent any scams. Mentioning your business is selling out btw.[DOUBLEPOST=1559082863][/DOUBLEPOST]
Without a rep system I wouldn't have used the site in the first place
Why is that?

Reputation, in general, is a good system, it's just not good on MC-Market as most of the users tend to leave bullshit or bias reputation. Though, this issue can be fixed by simply looking at the actual reputation on a user's profile and not just the amount of reputation they have. It's up to the person to decide whether to deal with someone after they've taken a look, obviously, someone wouldn't deal with another user if most of their reputation is stuff like "great guy" or in general idiotic and small rep like that. Too bad that most people just look at the numbers and not the actual context.

Incoming people with 50+ reputation trashing this thread like no other.
I anticipated this kind of response. When the reputation system was first implemented a lot of people at the time had quite a different opinion over the matter.

Most people look at the number and are like “gee it’s high there’s no way this guy can scam me...” gets scammed *surprised pikachu face*

They're trying to make rep more elaborate by requiring 100 characters
It is still being bypassed, in my opinion, the only actual fix would be punishment for users that leave such reputation, that way everyone would be forced to leave actual and valid reputation with valid proof because some users also tend to upload random pictures as the proof.

At first, I didn't know who was legit or not, having someone that dealt with 100s of people assures that you are most likely not gonna get fucked over
That’s why you had to actually go out of your way to see who was reputable in the past and make intelligent decisions.

That's partially their fault for not looking into the context, but the way some users treat the reputation system doesn't help either.
