Alright well to kick this off, its to easy to fake/gain fake rep with this thing. This is really the same thing as the " vouch " icon we used before, but with out the comments.

I for one is sick of this shit. A user ( 30760 ) left me a bad rep for saying he was on drugs because he wanted to sell a domain for $500, when clearly everyone knows its worth less than $10...

My trade link to view his nasty comment on me: http://www.mc-market.org/trade/feedback/634/view

The same thing happened with TellingMom when someone left a bad feedback for something she never done..

These bad rep can really affect a person during trades, from people not trusting you.
Reason: We get put on this garbage list " Untrusted Traders " for something we never even done.

I think this needs to change....

I agree, at least they have some sense in them selves unlike 30760

You would think but if someone wants to trash talk.. Well they will do it anyways.

Two ways to deal with trash talkers is to..
1. Report them (rules state that this system is only meant for trades and must be honest and etc)
2. And also deliver good services in general.

If your striving to be a successful business owner there will ALWAYS be some people who want to "tank" your reputation for one "reason" or another.

There are ways to prevent getting your trade reputation tarnished by other players. If said player unfairly has rated you or anyone else, there is a button to report the feedback they gave. The staff will check these and will fix them if enough proof is given that this is a false or abusive case. It isn't that hard folks....

Anyway you add a reputation system there are always ways around it. It's fine to me, and about only ranks being able to post rep, what makes people with money better than people without? Ranks should not determine someones reputations, instead, you could take the time to look at who posted a positive/negative on the user's trade rep, and see if it's reasonable or not. Also, if you're falsely given negative/neutral/positive feedback, I think the staff members should be able to take care of it especially if it is reported by someone.

It's just something extra that is not needed at all in my opinion. Honestly, I think it's pretty redundant to ratings. People say "oh but you can abuse ratings" and all this bullshit but you can abuse this just as much. If you abuse ratings, you get caught. If you abuse this, you get caught. The only difference is abusing ratings doesn't make as much of an impact because there are way more of them you have to do. In this if you have 1 positive and 1 false negative then you don't look so great. Also a lot of people have been asking for these ratings and they could get 5+ people that have never dealt with them to give them positive reputation and it would make them look good. It should be based on how well known the user is and their ratings:messages ratio.

It's just an extra layer of verification.

We have our own opinions.
Alright so what is your reasoning as to why we should keep a system that can be very easily abused, when something similar is already in place that can be abused, but not as easily.

I personally like having it. Although I know that, because I don't usually do deals with people (I offer my services for free), I won't have much reputation - I'm still happy to show that I am a reputable member. If someone comes and trashes my rep on purpose, I'll report them. That is pretty simple.

I've responded to the OP already.

So you do admit that there are ways around it, why would you have to have two systems in place that both have ways around them? That is just more room for error. And as I already said, you could get people to give you rep for a small amount of money and it will look just as good.

I've always argued that reputation wasn't based off of ratings on MCM. There was never a way that was readily available for users to see if people were legitimately reputable. Now there is, and although it can be abused, it is not the same as ratings. Ratings are easier to abuse, because you can't report ratings.

Ratings are for the forum and can be given with the click of a button, as for the rep thing has to be people who think out what they say. As I said, another layer of rep.

Imo only ranks should be able to give rep (premium and supreme)
Yeah good idea! While we're at it we might as well make the front of the bus a white only area!

I agree, the new system is bad. It will be extremely easy to forge good or bad rep on someone. I had bad rep applied and I never even participated in any deals. People say "just report it"... ok, well I did. Thing is... it's going to be an on going house keeping nightmare for the staff to differentiate legit rep from fake rep. As long as the rep isn't tied to an actual transaction, it simply isn't a good alternative.[DOUBLEPOST=1457053143][/DOUBLEPOST]I think people are also missing the point that if it's that easy to add fake negative rep, it's probably just as easy to add fake positive rep. You can't trust this system. I also reported the fake negative rep I received the other day, and it hasn't been addressed yet. Idk, guess the staff is backed up?
