Hello.
In my opinion, the "Funny" and "Optimistic" reactions do not serve a purpose in areas in which people are selling or buying things.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but if I view a thread and there's funny reactions or optimistic reactions, I tend to think something is wrong with the thread itself or the person. Anything to be said, directly or indirectly, should be left in the appropriate section such as comments with evidence to back it up or the feedback system not using the funny or optimistic reaction.

Hiya, I use these reactions to indicate the absurdity in threads that deserve it imo. Rather than wasting precious seconds of my life typing up a response, I simply use the reaction which is generally the same expression I would have towards the threads I am currently viewing.

Yeah, I don't think so.

I use the funny rating for the same reason BlueJaySamurai does. For example when service teams say "Hey our devs can do this!" before reading the thread, then later realizing the OP only wants freelancers.
Or when people overcharge on their products/services
Using the funny reaction because someone says something you don't agree with doesn't serve a purpose in the marketplace area. For things like general discussion, introduction, etc, it does because it's not for buying/selling.

If you find something funny because someone is overpricing or copy-pasting, cool, but using a reaction is not constructive in my opinion and also does not serve any purpose.

I believe the reactions are appropriate for this platform, it shows how others feel about threads/post while not directly "trashing" the thread.

As for your constructive point, many reactions are in one way or another are a form of mass critique, e.g "Like/Dislike buttons" "1-5 Star ratings" "Thumbs up/down". We note these reactions when purchasing products, watching videos or movies, etc... to indicate how much we will be satisfied with it.

Why advocate for the removal of 'optimistic' and not 'creative'?
Both reactions are equally applicable for the purpose of invalidating what someone has said.

remove funny, leave optimistic
Better yet, make the funny reaction count for positive ratings. That way, people abusing the reaction are actually helping other members by boosting their score.

I think it's a good feature that should stay. Adds some life to the forums.

Although, admittedly it annoys me when people disagree to some of my posts without explaining why.

Personally, I've never seen someone use 'Creative' in a negative way. I've only ever known people to use funny and optimistic as a way to be negative toward the OP.

So I cannot comment on the Creative reaction, only the ones I've mentioned in my post.

The problem is that once we remove funny/optimistic it just shifts people into thinking "what reaction can I use instead?", and creative is almost definitely what people would use to sarcastically say that something is so unlogical and unreasonable that it's "creative".

At least at the moment while we have funny uncounted, people trying to say "this is so dumb lol" aren't rewarding the people who post that sort of content.

Better yet, make the funny reaction count for positive ratings. That way, people abusing the reaction are actually helping other members by boosting their score.
This would be the worst of both worlds, it's just encourage people to shitpost and post outrageous threads with the intention of baiting people into calling them funny and then they get a tonne of reactions.

In all honesty, why are there any reactions in the services/products areas anyhow? It should just go by feedback stars like resources and people must have purchased the product/service before being able to leave a relevant review.
If one leaves a review and the OP reports it stating the person did not purchase the product, the comment can be disputed like it would in the resource area and a moderator would be able to handle it there.

sometimes i think people make suggestions for the sake of it, and this is one of these. im sure you can live if an emoji on a minecraft forum doesnt get removed, it shouldnt be debated and argued over, like half of the other suggestions on the suggestions section. besides, its just an emoji, if i find something funny i react with funny. it shouldnt have that much thought or affect someone in such a prevalent way. i think this user sums it up perfectly

Because it is a marketplace. We're not here to get reactions or receive them unless in the appropriate section (appraisals/suggestions).

People come here to sell so what is the real purpose of having reactions in the areas where people buy/sell stuff?
It only makes sense to have feedback stars like in the resources since again, people are buying/selling.

your acting like its a *marketplace* with some professional type workers, where in reality its a minecraft forum filled with endless kids selling semi og minecraft names and other minecraft related accessories. you say 'were not here to get reactions' as if you are trying to suck out the last bit of fun and interaction the community has. if you are intending to remove funny reactions from the 'designated selling areas' because 'nobody wants funny reactions' we might aswell ban any funny comments in this section area since you want it to be so professional.

A marketplace is a marketplace. You can still "have fun" on here without needing to use reactions in the buying/selling areas.

General discussion, introduction (maybe), appraisals and feedback are the only ones that have any baring of having reactions.

Reactions can be useful in a marketplace too.

For example, say someone is asking $20 for a service that should cost $5, at least 10 people will probably react "funny" to it which is a common occurrence on here. The funny reactions would reaffirm that the service is incredibly overpriced and that many people feel the same way without having to waste time posting and cluttering the service's thread.

An example of how post reactions have helped me:
Recently, I wanted to purchase a 3 months Nitro code from a user who was selling it for $10, which seemed reasonable to me. However, for some reason the thread had a lot of funny reactions which was a red flag so I didn't just rush to purchase it. I read through the thread until I found out that you can get it for free from a $1 Xbox game pass, so the reactions saved me from getting ripped off.

Reactions also do make the market more fun and entertaining, which can only boost market/forum activity.

It’s 2020 and people are still getting upset about receiving funny reactions on their threads...

Reactions mean absolutely nothing and you shouldn’t take them seriously.
