So there's been an uproar of bullcrap because of the recent rename of the vouch rating to "Winner".
It's a step, but not exactly in the right direction.
Ratings is already flawed because of multiple reasons, firstly, if someone posts more often they're going to statistically have more ratings.
Second, most members use ratings as a way to gauge their overall reputation. Someone could only make hysterical posts and get tons of funny ratings, but that doesn't mean they'll be trustworthy in a trade.
I can see ratings being awesome for a purely social forums, but when it comes to MCM, where people are trading currencies (accounts, builds, plugins, servers, capes, money, etc.), the ratings can be mistaken for what they are.

My suggestion is to remove any visibility of ratings, such as on profiles, postbits, etc., and have the ratings as the following.

Like
Agree
Dislike
Disagree
Funny
Rekt
Vouch (only able to be used on first posts of a thread)
(and any more suggested ones)

What this system would do is gauge the community's opinion of a post, without completely changing a person's reputation. I've always believed that rep should be defined by actions and not numbers, this will only support this thought further. I've just been seeing too many people feel like the numbers are what makes a user reputable, when it's not near that.
Yes, this will probably wreck tons of egos.

Suggestions are welcome, I'm not saying in any way that this should be the final version, this was just something I thought of off the top of my head.

Along with this...could we get more scam reports staff? There's 1 and a quarter pages of scam reports now.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I agree, in addition to that, I want to point out a place on the site "ratings" really do work if they can be called ratings. In the resources section the ability to rate something you have bought 1-5 stars is useful and relatively accurate to the quality of the resource. I think the best way to fix the ratings system is to take a page from what bigger sites that deal with business such as ebay and yelp do. You should be able to rate a seller and that should be visible on their profile, but only rate someone as a seller. When you buy something you should be able to rate the person you bought from on some sort of scale, and at no other time should a rating be allowed. Obviously, something that has to be worked out is separating real purchases being rated from people just giving fraudulent upvotes since unlike a site such as ebay the transactions are not primarily done within the confines of the site itself. This would probably require a little bit of extra moderation but would drastically improve the meaning of ratings and would probably also reduce scamming since people would be able to see how shitty a seller was beforehand.
Honestly, a lot of scams probably happen because the buyer sees the seller was rated funny 200 times and figure they should go second since they themselves are only rated funny 50 times. So yeah, you guys don't have magically come up with a good way to rate people, there are existing systems that work well on other websites that could probably be implemented here. Granted, it might be some work, but a more accurate way of seeing how reputable a user is (mind I'm not saying foolproof, just more accurate) is by far the most important change that needs to be made to the website and will by far improve the community the most if a successful system is instituted.

Yup, exactly.
I would love a system where you can rate the individual buyer/seller once, but Verringer has said that he does not want software to be made specifically for MCM, my idea tries to tailor this to his needs.

There already has been a "trusted" badge, and it didn't go well, a very trusted person had scammed a user out of his money seeing he had "trusted" as a badge... so bad idea
Yup, and as with everything on MCM, it was really biased.

Agreed, post ratings are used as reputation which I don't understand, so the part where you said hiding it on profiles and posts is probably a very good idea. It encourages the act of vetting a lot more. Either temporarily or permanently, that would be a *very* good idea.

I think this'd be good, but only having one rating that can be seen on profiles. A vouch rating. (Also ratings should be reset)

I completely agree. I think it would be cool to have some kind of credit system where you get credits for successfully buying and selling. It could really reduce the amount of scams going on.
How would mc market know you successfully bought or sold something..

Its basically 'vouch' which was removed already... which is good because people were telling all 10 of their friends to vouch for them, and make them look good. (fake vouch)

Denied. We are not changing the current rating system any time soon.
