If anyone really wants to upgrade, they'll use the user menu.

a good place for this would really be the bar where there's new posts, watched threads, et cetera

Actually, I changed my mind in terms of design:

But regardless, where would you suggest they put it where it's in plain sight? It's a marketing strategy for one thing, and it's easier to get to when it's down the bottom.

I'm happy with how our footer is at the moment, and having 3 segments would make the responsiveness of it weird on mobile I would assume.
