Reputation Requirements

Hello everyone,
False reputation has been a problem I am having to deal with a lot recently, (both are still up if you'd like to see) and I thought it may be best to add some more requirements, before you can leave rep.

1. One Month Membership
2. At least 1 positive rep (1 pos + 1 neg = zero)

Also, I was a user on this site with 13 positive rep, and zero negative rep for a while, yet I still couldn't add rep. I recently gained access to adding rep to peoples pages. Maybe if a user had 10+ rep, they should be able to bypass the one month rule.

If this is a bad idea for some reason I am not seeing, feel free to tell me why below. Thanks for your time.

What about in the negative rep you can leave your own note explaining with proof how the negative rep was unjustified. All this would be under the negative rep.

I just think it would be better to require one positive rep as well, to show that you are active in the community and are aware of how things work. Idk might be a stupid idea And yes, I've reported both, they just haven't gotten to it yet.

But no, I meant the description and negative rep are still permanent, it just a way of letting people decide if they negative reps description from person with negative rep justifies still giving that person a chance. As I don't see +1 + -1 = 0 as that is a terrible idea to the people that actually deserve the negative rep. But giving user with negative rep a way to explain and/or proof the bad rep was unjustified would seem like a more likely outcome.

I believe this is already a thing.

So far the only requirement is your account needs to be at least 3 months old. (EDIT: actually 1 month, my bad)

Reqlex If you have false rep you can report it and a staff member will get to it :tup: I suppose if the amount of false rep starts to get ridiculous/too much to handle, we would consider implementing more requirements.

We're already at 3 months. and the positive rep thing will mean nothing. It will make it difficult for people to start off giving others rep, while the less scrupulous will simply farm for it

Reputation is nothing but pixels. Focus on how people act rather than pixels.

We already have a 1 month wait time before you can give reputation, I think that's plenty.
